Production of my contents page

PRODUCTION OF MY CONTENTS PAGE

• I started with a light grey/purple background to see how it will look when i started producing my magazine.

I began editing some pictures which i will put in my contents page. For this picture i used the magnetic lasso tool which allowed me to select specific parts of the picture and deselect whatever I dont need. So i selected the female and the piano. Then I used the magic wand tool to allow me to take out little parts which were not in shape. I then used the eraser tool to soften the edges of the image. The bottom picture shows the edited version.

This is another image which I am going to use in my contents page. As you can see from the image, I used the magnetic lasso tool again to select specific parts of the image. This was a tricky image to edit because of the background and the shapes of the images. I also used the background eraser.

For this part of the image I had to copy and paste using the lasso tool to make the shape straight as when edited it looked very messy. The image below is the edited version.

I then placed fonts for ‘CONTENTS’ ‘VINYL’ ‘ISSUE 33’ AND ‘THIS WEEK’ and i placed the images in the position I wanted them.

Here is some elements I added to my contents page, I added information for the reader. As you can see from the previous image, I have changed the colour of the background. I decided to do this because I felt as if that colour appealed to girls and this colour is more appropriate for me to relate to my Indie genre. I then got rid of the ‘THIS WEEK’ as it can relate to many other typical magazines such as ‘NME’ I have added page numbers on the two images I edited. I put the numbers in yellow so it would stand out. In the space left I am going to add another larger image and I will fill in the information for the ‘FEATURES’ part.

• I decided to change the layout for my contents page and this is because it would look more neat and organised. I also used the marquee tool to make borders around the pictures. I also added the issue 133, March 2011 in the top right corner. I added an editorial with a signature and another preview of the magazine to give the audience some information about what they can see in the magazine.

• I made some final changes to my magazine; From the previous image you can see there was a big gap between the image and editors note. Therefore here I spread out the writing so some of the space is used up.

I also changed the background colour of

the images on the contents page. I used

the paint bucket tool to fill in the background

colour to white. I made this change because I wanted it to stand out more whereas with the

grey it looked quite simple and boring.
