Today’s Elder

Most elders are not leading anyone.

Their primary function is limited to assisting the pastor by sitting on the church board and other committees.

The majority of elders struggle to visit members.

Jethro advised that men be appointed to act as "rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens." These were to be "able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness."
