It all started in 1976 when the Taittinger family, already well known for Champagne, opened the first Campanile hotel in France, inspired by American motels. The hotels were managed by a husband-and-wife team, living full-time in their hotel, providing a unique familial and convivial spirit. The husband cooked and the wife hosted the guests. There was the dish of the day called "la Marmite" (the Cooking Pot) - around the buffet of starters and desserts, in a convivial and sharing atmosphere.

In 40 years, Louvre Hotels Group grew significantly, from a French PME to a global hospitality leader, with 10 brands in 54 countries.

Louvre Hotels Group has always been a pioneer, leading to new standards on its category: 1st to introduce CSR & PMS, 1st to connect to OTA, 1st to offer free-Wifi in its hotels, 1st group to launch its own booking app and more recently 1st on concepts mixing human and artificial intelligence.

From hotel staff to GM, from cleaning lady to housekeeper, from cook to Business Unit director, in France or abroad, from hotel to HQ, Louvre Hotels Group acts as a true social elevator.
