In order to prepare for this important upgrade and ensure that your computer will be able to take advantage of it, you will need to remove the old Dynamic Web TWAIN plug-in from Internet Explorer and install the new plug-in. If you already performed this process on Thursday 8/6/2015, you do not need to do it again. If you are unsure whether or not you have completed the process, it’s fine to repeat the process. This needs to be done for each computer that you use to scan in the Safety Portal. Please refer to the detailed instructions and troubleshooting tips below. Safety Portal Upgrade: Dynamic Web TWAIN

PRE-UPGRADE PREPARATION In order to provide enhancements to the scanning features of the Safety Portal and to resolve scanning issues that some users have experienced, we will soon be upgrading the Dynamic Web TWAIN software in the Safety Portal.

In order to prepare for this important upgrade and ensure that your computer will be able to take advantage of it, you will need to remove the old Dynamic Web TWAIN plug-in from Internet Explorer and install the new plug-in.

If you already performed this process on Thursday 8/6/2015, you do not need to do it again. If you are unsure whether or not you have completed the process, it’s fine to repeat the process.

This needs to be done for each computer that you use to scan in the Safety Portal.

Please refer to the detailed instructions and troubleshooting tips below. If you have any questions or need assistance after attempting the troubleshooting tips, please contact the Evans Tech Deck.

1. If it is open, close Internet Explorer. You will need to run Internet Explorer “as an administrator.”

2. Click on your Start button; then click All Programs.

3. Right-click on Internet Explorer and select Run as administrator.

4. If you are prompted to enter your administrator credentials, enter your Windows username and password and click OK. If you do not know your administrator credentials or do not have administrator rights, ask your supervisor to assist you or contact the Evans Tech Deck.

5. If you are prompted by a User Account Control pop-up to allow the program Internet Explorer to make changes to your computer, click Yes.

6. Copy and paste the following URL into your Internet Explorer address bar and press the Enter key.

https://safety.evansdelivery.com/ScanUpgrade/Scan.aspx

7. Enter your first and last name.

8. Enter a description of the computer (for example, Bob's laptop, Judy's HP, Jorge's Dell, etc.)

Providing your name and a description of your computer will help us in case you need assistance with this process.

9. Enter your Safety Portal user name and password, then click Log In.

10. Click the Remove Old Scanning Plug-in button.

11. Read the pop-up message and then click OK.

12. If prompted, click Run on the message at the bottom of your screen.

13. If prompted, click Yes on the User Account Control pop-up message.

14. Click OK in the pop-up success message.

15. You’ve removed the old files and can now safely install the upgraded plug-in.

If this step was not successful, please refer to the Troubleshooting Tips starting on page 9.

16. If the previous step was successful, click the Proceed to Step #3 button.

17. If prompted, click Install on the message at the bottom of your screen.

The text of the above message may vary.

18. If prompted, click Install on the pop-up warning message.

19. Place any document in your scanner as usual and click the Scan Test button.

20. If nothing happens when you click Scan Test, please clear your Internet Explorer cache (see step-by-step instructions under “Troubleshooting Tips” starting on page 9). Then click the link to start over.

21. If prompted to “Select Source,” just choose your scanner from the drop-down menu and click Go, then click the Scan Test button again.

22. Your scanner will feed the document through as usual. When the preview of the document that you just scanned is displayed, click Yes to confirm that your test was successful.

23. If you did not have a document ready in your scanner, click OK on the error message; then click No on the Scan Test question. (You’ll be able to start over from the next screen.)

24. If your test was successful, you can either click the link to proceed to the Safety Portal or just close your Internet Explorer window. (You’re done!)

25. If your test was not successful, please refer to the “Troubleshooting Tips” starting on the next page.

Troubleshooting Tips If you were unable to complete the upgrade preparation process successfully, please perform the following steps in order before contacting the Tech Deck.

Clear your Internet Explorer cache and then start the upgrade process again.

If still unsuccessful, run Windows Update and start the upgrade process again.

The instructions for each of these troubleshooting steps follow below

Clear Your Internet Explorer Cache

A. Click on your File menu or the gear icon in the upper-right corner of your Internet Explorer screen (not Chrome or Firefox).

B. Click Internet Options.

C. Click the Delete button.

D. Make sure that only these two boxes are checked:

Temporary Internet files and website files

Cookies and website data

E. Then click on the Delete button.

F. If displayed, click the X to close the confirmation message at the bottom of your screen.

G. Now click the OK button.

H. Close Internet Explorer and then re-open it.

I. Repeat the Safety Portal upgrade preparation process (starting on page 1).

Instructions for running Internet Explorer as an administrator begin on the next page.

Run Windows Update

A. Click your Start button; then click Control Panel.

B. If you see categories, click System and Security, then click Windows Update; otherwise continue to the next step.

C. If you see “All Control Panel Items” instead of categories, click Windows Update.

D. Click Check for updates.

E. It may take some time to check for updates. You can continue working on your computer.

F. If Windows reports that “Important” updates are available, click Install Updates.

G. Wait for Windows to install the updates. This may take some time if there are many; you can continue working with your computer during this time.

H. If prompted, restart your computer by clicking Restart now.

Wait for your computer to restart. Then log back into Windows.

I. Repeat Windows Update (steps A through H) until it reports that there are “no important updates available.”

J. Start the Safety Portal upgrade preparation process again (see page 1).
