Worship Gathering August 6, 2017

Page 2: Prayer List - WordPress.com · 8.02.2017  · 115 New allwin Road allwin, MO 63021 636.391.6697 office.lafayettechurch@gmail.com lafayettechurch.org Gatherings Sunday mornings 9:00am

Whether you are a first-time guest or have been gathering with us for some time, we are glad you are with us today. We are a family of Jesus-followers who gather each week to worship God and scatter each week to reflect God. Thanks so much for worshipping with us. Please join us in reflecting God throughout the week.

Please complete a blue guest card from the back of the worship center seats and place it in the offering tray as it passes you. We would love to be able to contact you to say hello. If you would like to know more about being a Jesus-follower, being baptized, or becoming a part of Lafayette, you are invited to meet with those in the prayer room just after the sermon. Turn left as you exit the back of the worship center; the prayer room is on the right just past the kitchen.

1 School supplies Today is the last day to bring your school supplies for Fair Haven Children's Home and Por Los Ninos Children's Home in Catacamas, Honduras. Please place your donations in the containers in the foyer.

2 Lafayette 101 Our adult class meeting on Sundays will feature Lafayette 101 presentations for the next four weeks. Presentations will include a CFS report, a presentation of the Lafayette discipleship plan, a short-term missions report on Honduras, and teaching about lessons learned from our Israel pilgrims.

3 Campus clean-up Being good stewards of our church campus is important to us at Lafayette. A 40 foot dumpster was delivered to allow us to do some summer cleaning. Teachers and ministry leaders are encouraged to make use of the dumpster this week.

4 Baptism “Follow me.” Remember those words from Jesus? If you are a Jesus-follower, do you remember the day you changed the direction of your life and began following him? Paul Stone was baptized recently. With his baptism he begins a new life of following Jesus as Lord of his life. Give thanks for Paul’s decision to follow Jesus!

5 Church office hours Due to vacation schedules, the church office will have irregular hours this week. You are encouraged to contact the staff before traveling to the office. Normal office hours (Monday—Thursday, 8:00am-1:00pm) resume on August 14.

Are you active on Facebook? Twitter? Instagram? Do you enjoy posting family news? Inspirational stories? Memories? Do you like connecting with friends? Many people have found social media to be a pleasant and joyful experience. To all of you...carry on. I’d like to say a word to those who find social media a place to vent, fume, rant, and rage. May I suggest that before you post or like or retweet, you consider: “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be” (James 3:9-10). — Bob Clark
