RAIFFEISENBANK OFFERS NEW CONTACTLESS DEBIT CARDS
Last week, Raiffeisenbank started issuing new debit cards to its accounts, supporting contactless
technology. Also, the bank unveiled new design of the debit cards that includes a charity feature in the
form of an active QR code. With the new debit cards issued to the new eKonto KOMPLET account,
clients have free ATM withdrawals all around the world.
Raiffeisenbank launched new debit cards enabling contactless payments. „We will issue debit cards
with contactless technology automatically to all new clients and to all, whose existing cards are to
expire. We are pleased that in line with our strategy focused on superior quality of services, we are
able to provide our clients with new cards that make payments for their purchases easier and faster,“
said Raiffeisenbank’s product manager Romana Lantorová, adding that with the new eKonto
KOMPLET account, owners of the new cards will also have free ATM withdrawals all around the
world.
Banka introduced three new types of its debit cards: an electronic BASIC card, embossed
STANDARD card, and a prestigious GOLD card. The new design of all three types is based on the
QR code symbol. „Moreover, clients can find a QR code on the back of the card; after taking a photo
of the code, they will be redirected to the website of Pomáháme dětěm (Helping the Children), an
initiative they can also participate in. We will be developing charity features of the new eKonto
account further and we are about to unveil more news soon,“ Romana Lantorová added.
PRESS RELEASE
Raiffeisenbank’s new debit cards provide clients with free ATM withdrawals all around the world and
they support free CashBack. The payment card locking service is also available to clients with the new
cards. With the „Inform me!“ service, clients can have a real time view of card transactions through
text messages or e-mails; furthermore, the cards can be associated with various insurance covers (card
abuse insurance, travel insurance for the entire family).
Contactless payment cards enable payments for purchases of up to CZK 500 to be made faster and
easier without entering the PIN. At a merchant equipped with a contactless payment terminal, the
client only places the card next to the terminal’s reader and the payment is made. Currently, there are
more than 15 thousand points of sale equipped with contactless technology in the Czech Republic.
As part of the Pomáháme dětem (Helping the Children) initiative, Raiffeisenbank cooperates with
three non-profit organizations: the bank is a partner to Pomozte dětem! (Help the Children!)
fundraising project, supports Konto Bariéry (Barriers Account), and has been helping Dobrý
Anděl (Good Angel), a foundation fund, since the fund’s formation. After scanning the QR
code on the back side of the new debit cards, clients will be redirected to
www.rb.cz/pomahamedetem, where they will get further information about all the
foundations.
Raiffeisenbank thus further expanded its portfolio of new products focused primarily on premium
clients. Last year, the bank introduced new credit cards that, among other things, refund 2% on each
purchase and combine various discounts and insurances. Earlier this year, it unveiled the new eKonto
KOMPLET, providing clients with a full-featured account with many unique services and benefits; it
also includes the recently launched smartphone banking named Mobile eKonto.
