She was appointed C.B.E. in 1977 and D.B.E. in 1987, and died in 1994. She was elected an Honorary Fellow of St Hilda's in 1978. Her manuscripts were offered to the College in 1992, at her own request. Initially the collection was sorted, numbered and listed by Dr. Jenny Doctor. Extracts from her work form the bulk of the handlists below, but there is no full catalogue as yet.
