Responsibilities & requirements
ReflectionThe Australian Professional Standards for Teachers have been particularly helpful in highlighting areas for my professional development. The Standards have helped me to focus on a key area such evaluation and improvement of teaching programs (Standards 3.6, 6.2, 6.3) for the benefit of students.
After attending a professional development conference held by the Japanese Language and Teachers Association of South Australia I was able to apply new ways assessing student learning (IBMYP – visuacy task) and introduce new strategies to engage students in learning (Japanese customs & cultures, history, geography).
The Standards encourage “life long learning” something that we as teachers should aim to inspire in our students and which is equally relevant and important to us in order to provide best practice.
