Service type

LongLife service or service dependent on time/distance travelled?

Depending on your vehicle's technical characteristics either the LongLifeservice or the service dependent on time/distance travelled will apply. If youdo not wish to have the LongLife service you can choose the service de-pendent on time/distance travelled. Your Official SEAT Service has the mostrecent information about the services and can advise you on the best type

of service for your vehicle, and if there are any additional inspections it re-quires by law. In the following pages we have compiled the most importantinformation about the services offered. These services are valid at the timeof printing and can be subject to further modifications for technical reasons.

How to know which type of service your vehicle requires

LongLife Service: Service dependent on time/distance travelled:

- Your vehicle has LongLife Service if the PR number “QG1” (see back) ap-pears on the vehicle data sticker and if, on ⇒ page 4, the LongLife Serv-ice is marked with a cross.

- Your vehicle has service dependent on time/distance travelled if the PRnumber “QG0, QG2 or QG3” (see back) appears on the vehicle data stickerand if, on ⇒ page 4, the Oil Change Service is marked with a cross.

- The Interval Service appears on the “Next Services” sticker (on the door pil-lar).

- The Oil Change Service appears on the “Next Services” sticker (on the doorpillar).

- The LongLife Service is marked with a cross on ⇒ page 4. - The service dependent on time/distance travelled is marked with a crosson ⇒ page 4.

SEAT differentiates between services with an engine oil change (e.g. Interval Service) and services without an engine oil change (e.g. Inspection Service).The service interval display only provides information about service dates that include a change of engine oil. The dates of all other services, such as Inspec-tion Service or brake fluid change, appear in the sticker on the door pillar.

NoteIf LongLife oil is not used, the service dependent on time/distance travelledis applied, and the oil must be changed every 15 000 km (10 000 miles) orevery year. Ð

If diesel with a high sulphur content is used, the fuel filter and the oilshould be changed every 7500 km (5000 miles) ⇒ page 7. Your OfficialSEAT Service will be able to tell you which countries have diesel with a highsulphur content.

Before delivery, your vehicle was inspected according to factory guidelines.This ensures that driving will be a pleasure from the very beginning.

The agent will provide you with the following information when the vehicleis delivered:

Note● Using diesel fuel with a high sulphur content may significantly reducethe useful life of the diesel particulate filter.

Importance of the Maintenance Programme

The Maintenance Programme confirms the date of deliveryof your vehicle and thus the beginning of its warranty cover.

The vehicle data that appears in the Maintenance Programme guaranteesthat the appropriate Genuine SEAT® Parts are installed. This data helps en-sure that your car can be repaired without difficulty even after many years ofuse.

The Maintenance Programme also informs you of which service should becarried out when, and the work this entails.

Your Official SEAT Service will note down in this booklet the services carriedout.

Your Maintenance Programme should be kept in the vehicle with the on-board documentation so that it is at hand whenever you need it.

Please remember to give the Maintenance Programme to the new owner ifyou sell your car.

The SEAT Service Centre network is equipped with modern workshop tech-nology and well-trained specialists. Many SEAT Service Centres offer differ-ent service packages at special prices Ð

Safety notes

All fluids and consumables, such as timing belts, tyres, coolant liquid, en-gine oil, spark plugs and vehicle batteries are continuously being devel-oped. Therefore, we recommend you take the vehicle to a qualified work-shop to have fluids or consumables changed. The Official SEAT Services re-ceive regular up-to-date information about modifications. This is why SEATrecommends you have fluids and other consumables replaced by an OfficialSEAT Service.

Unless the vehicle is regularly and correctly serviced as required in the serv-ice plan, the vehicle could breakdown while driving, leading to serious acci-dent and injury.

● Services should be carried out by a qualified workshop in accordancewith the Maintenance Programme.

● Please observe the instructions for use.

Note● Only use suitable fluids. Fluids should never be mixed up. This could re-sult in serious faults and engine damage.

● SEAT is not responsible for damage to the vehicle as a result of the useof poor quality fuel, inadequate servicing or non-availability of originalspare parts.

● Spilt brake fluid may pollute the environment. If fluids leak or are spilt,they should be collected and disposed of accordingly.

● Regular servicing of your vehicle not only helps to ensure it remains ingood working order but also contributes to road safety. Therefore, we rec-ommend work is carried out in accordance with the Maintenance Pro-gramme. Ð

SEAT maintenance programme

Service intervals

General information

To ensure that you have each service carried out on time and that none areforgotten, there is a reminder sticker on the driver side door pillar and a re-minder will also be shown via the service interval display on the instrumentpanel.

The service intervals quoted are for vehicles used under normal operatingconditions.

However, if the vehicle is used in adverse conditions, it may require workbefore the next established service interval or even between service inter-vals.

Adverse conditions include:

● the use of fuel with a high sulphur content

● frequent short journeys

● leaving the engine idling for long periods of time (as occurs with taxis)

● driving on dusty roads or in dusty areas

● frequently using the vehicle for towing

● mainly driving in the city, in heavy traffic where it is necessary to contin-uously brake and start, and

● using the vehicle mainly in the winter

This particularly affects:

● the air filter

● the timing belt

● the engine oil and

● the diesel particulate filter

In some countries diesel fuel has a high sulphur content; in these cases thefuel filter and the oil should be changed every 7500 km (5000 miles)⇒ page 7. Your Official SEAT Service will be able to tell you which coun-tries have diesel with a high sulphur content.

The service advisor at your Official SEAT Service will advise you on the needto carry out additional work on your vehicle, taking into account the usageconditions of the vehicle.

A list of the work to be carried out at the SEAT services is given on the fol-lowing pages. These services are valid at the time of printing and can besubject to further modifications for technical reasons. Your Official SEATService always has the latest available information and will be able to tellyou if your vehicle requires any other additional inspections established bylaw.

The cost of the SEAT service may vary, depending on the vehicle type,equipment fitted, additional work and statutory inspections. Your OfficialSEAT Service will tell you how much the SEAT service will cost (labour andparts). Ð

LongLife Service

Thanks to the technology used at SEAT, with the LongLife Service, an Inter-val Service only has to be carried out when it is necessary.

The length of the service intervals is also determined by factors such asconditions under which the vehicle is used and personal driving style.

If LongLife engine oil is not used, the service dependent on time/distancetravelled then applies. In this case, an oil change service will have to becarried out every 15 000 km (10 000 miles) or every year. This also appliesif you reprogram the vehicle to the service dependent on time/distance trav-elled

Oil change service

Operations to be carried out on your vehicle

● Check the thickness of brake pads and the condition of front and rearbrake discs.

● Change the engine oil and replace the oil filter.1)

● The date of the next service is entered on the service sticker which is at-tached to the driver side door pillar

● The service interval display is reset Ð

Interval service

Operations to be performed on your vehicle:

● Check the battery.

● Check the depth of the tyre tread (incl. the spare wheel), that tread wearis even, check the age and pressure of the tyres. Where applicable, adjustthe tyre pressure monitor.

● Brake system inspected for leaks and damage.

● Check the brake fluid level and wear of pads.

● Check the thickness of brake pads and the condition of front and rearbrake discs.

● Check the correct operation of the front and rear lighting, the turn sig-nals, the hazard warning lights, the daytime driving lights, the static corner-ing lights and the automatic dipped beam control (where applicable) andthe horn.

● Check if the windscreen is damaged.

● Check the coolant and anti-freeze liquid and top up as required.

● Inspect the engine and components of the engine compartment (fromabove) for leaks and damage.

● Inspect the engine and components of the engine compartment, thegearbox, the transmission, the final drive (especially flanges) and the trackrod boots (from below) for leaks and damage.

● Change the engine oil and replace the oil filter1).

● Power steering hydraulic system: Check the seal and the fluid level, andif it is part of the equipment, if required, top up with hydraulic oil (only Exeoand Exeo ST)

● Check the expiry date of the puncture kit tyre sealant (where applicable)and record; check whether the bottle is damaged and the level of the seal-ant.

● Check the windscreen wipers and headlight washers (where applicable)operate correctly; check the blades, the rest position, the final position andpossible damage, and top up the washer fluid as required. £

● The date of the next service is entered on the service sticker which is at-tached to the driver side door pillar

Inspection service

Operations to be performed on your vehicle:

● The exhaust system is checked for leaks, damage and secure fitting

● ATF in the automatic gearbox: Check and, where necessary, top up withfluid (except Exeo, Exeo ST and 09G gearbox in hot climates).

● Power steering hydraulic system: Check the seal and the fluid level, andif it is part of the equipment, if required, top up with hydraulic oil (only Exeoand Exeo ST).

● Check the battery.

● Check the depth of the tyre tread (incl. the spare wheel, if applicable),the evenness of the tread wear, the age and pressure of the tyres. Whereapplicable, adjust the tyre pressure monitor.

● Check brake system and dampers for leaks and damage.

● Check the sunroof (where applicable) operates correctly and if necessaryclean and lubricate guides.

● Check the thickness of brake pads and the condition of front and rearbrake discs.

● Check the correct operation of the front and rear lighting, the turn sig-nals, the hazard warning lights, the daytime driving lights, the static corner-ing lights and the automatic dipped beam control (where applicable) andthe horn.

● Check if the windscreen is damaged.

● Check that the interior and glove box lighting, the cigarette lighter/pow-er socket, horn and warning lamps work correctly.

● Body: check for visible rust.

● Check the condition and, if required, the tension of the Poly V-belt.

● Check the coolant and anti-freeze liquid and top up as required.

● Inspect the engine and components of the engine compartment (fromabove) for leaks and damage.

● Visually inspect (from below) the engine and components of the enginecompartment, the gearbox, the end drive and the track rod boots for leaksand damage.

● Check the engine oil level.

● Check the expiry date of the puncture kit tyre sealant (where applicable)and record; check whether the bottle is damaged and the level of the seal-ant.

● Take a test drive and check that the brakes, handbrake, steering, and airconditioning operate correctly, and perform a kickdown.

● Check the windscreen wipers and headlight washers (where applicable)operate correctly; check the blades, the rest position, the final position andfor possible damage, and top up the washer fluid as required.

● The date of the next service is entered on the service sticker which is at-tached to the driver side door pillar

● Check the play, fastening and boots of the track rods and the front andrear axle bearings.

● Lubricate door arresters

● Inspected the underside protection for damage.

Note● It may be more convenient, taking the individual usage conditions ofyour vehicle into account, to have certain scopes of the interval service in-spection done earlier or at a later, separate date. The service advisor at yourOfficial SEAT Service will advise you accordingly.

● The engine type determines toothed belt replacement intervals. Formore information on the replacement of the toothed belt, check the chapteron additional tasks. The service advisor at your Official SEAT Service will ad-vise you accordingly. Ð

Additional tasks

In addition to the Inspection Service, additional maintenance jobs may haveto be carried out, depending on the conditions in which your vehicle is usedand on the equipment carried. This additional work should be carried out inaccordance with time/distance travelled to ensure your vehicle remains reli-able. Your Technical Service will provide detailed information about the ad-ditional work that may be necessary. This can be done independently of theobligatory services, taking into account the notes on the Maintenance Pro-gramme (or the label: Next service). Your SEAT Service Centre will be happy

to advise you and quote the prices for this additional work. Additional jobscompleted are marked on the workshop sheet with the receipt. Ð

Every 7500 km (5000 miles)

● Replace the fuel filter in TDI® diesel engines that use diesel with a sul-phur content of more than 2000 ppm. (Except Exeo and Exeo ST). Ð

Every 15 000 km (10 000 miles)

● Replace the rubber bearings of the engine cover (only engines with en-gine codes CDLA and CDLD). Ð

Every 30 000 km (20 000 miles)

● Fuel filter: Replace (diesel engine vehicles if the fuel does not complywith the EN 590 standard, except Exeo and Exeo ST).

● LPG installation filter: Replace (only engines with LPG)1).

● Dust and pollen filter for the passenger compartment: Replace (only Ibi-za, Ibiza SC, Ibiza ST, Exeo and Exeo ST).

● Gas hoses: inspect for damage (only engines with LPG)1).

● LPG filler neck and cap1): Check condition and, if necessary, clean andinspect seals (only engines with LPG)1). Ð

● Change oil and oil filter for DSG® automatic gearboxes (only 6-speedDSG® gearboxes).

● Change the automatic gearbox oil (only Exeo, Exeo ST and 09G gearboxin hot climates).

● Dust and pollen filter for the passenger compartment: Replace (only Al-tea, Altea XL, Altea Freetrack, Leon and Alhambra).

● Spark plugs: Replace (except 1.8 and 2.0 TFSI engines up to 147 kW).

● Air filter: Clean casing and replace filter element (only engines codesCDLA and CDLD and Diesel engines in Exeo and Exeo ST).

● Fuel filter: Replace (only Exeo and Exeo ST, engine codes CAGA, CAGC,CAHA).

● LPG evaporator: Check for traces of oil or other dirt (only engines withLGP)1). Ð

Every 90 000 km (60 000 miles)

● Air filter: Clean casing and replace filter element (except engines codesCDLA and CDLD and Diesel engines in Exeo and Exeo ST).

Legal Inspection Service

The legal inspections must be carried out at the intervalsprescribed.

Many countries have legal requirements obliging owners to have their vehi-cle tested at specified intervals for safety for the user and for other traffic,as well as ensuring that vehicle exhaust emissions meet the countries' reg-ulations. These revisions must be overseen by officially certified centres.

Your Technical Service can advise of the inspections required by law, andcan check your vehicle in the course of an Inspection Service. This will saveyou both time and money.

The Technical Service can also carry out the inspections required by law atthe client's request.

Even if you do not wish to take advantage of this service and decide to takeyour car to an officially certified centre for this check, we recommend thatyou speak to the manager of your Technical Service first.

This person will be able to inform you of any points that require attention sothat your car does not fail the test and have to be re-tested. Ð

Approved spare parts

All parts of your vehicle have been approved by SEAT, especially those partson which your safety depends. For this reason, the parts used in the Pro-

grammed Inspection Services or in any vehicle repair must correspond ex-actly to the manufacturer-defined requirements. The approved SEAT spareparts have been designed especially for your vehicle. For this reason, werecommend that Genuine approved SEAT spares are always used.

In the Authorised SEAT Service Centres you will find the most important ap-proved spare parts. If in an exceptional case, the necessary parts are not instock, they can, in general, be obtained swiftly.

The SEAT Service Centres in the EU provide a 24 month warranty1) for Ap-proved Spare parts from the date they are fitted or sold. It is therefore advis-able to retain the original invoice from the Technical Service as proof of theexisting warranty.

Warranty

Fault-free operation warranty

According to the clauses of the warranty applied to SEAT vehicles in thesales contract, A fault-free operation warranty of 2 years in accordance withlegal requirements1)2) is provided from the date of delivery.

We hope that it is understood that natural wear as well as damage causedby the abuse of vehicle performance through inappropriate use or by unac-ceptable modifications are excluded from the warranty. The warranty is alsoinvalid when the vehicle is damaged by the use of parts and accessoriesthat are not SEAT approved or damage due to ignoring the maintenance andrepair requirements. Ð

Paintwork and body warranty

Technical Services provide a warranty on bodywork andpaintwork for vehicles sold in the EU.

In addition to the warranty conditions for brand new SEAT vehicles (as de-tailed in the purchase contract), a defined period warranty is also providedcovering paintwork and bodywork rusting:

● The additional warranty on paint faults covers the first 3 years followingdelivery

● Covered against perforation rusting on the body during the first 12 yearsfollowing delivery.

If, however, this type of damage should occur, it will be repaired free ofcharge including parts and labour by any SEAT Technical Service in Europe.

Warranty claims will not be accepted in the following circumstances:

● if damage is caused by external influence or carelessness, or

● if damage to the body is not repaired promptly and appropriately in ac-cordance with the manufacturer's instructions using genuine, approvedspare parts and materials, or

● if perforation rusting is caused by the use of non-genuine parts and ma-terials for body repairs and if these repairs were not carried out in accord-ance with the manufacturer's instructions.

If the bodywork is repaired or painted, your Technical Service will certifyyour warranty against through-rusting for the repaired sections. Ð
