WORKING TITLE The title of this magazine will be ‘Poser’ as people who enjoy 90’s/00’s are often seen as pretending to be into a genre they don’t like as to gain popularity and a good social standing. However, this magazine will be for those who genuinely enjoy the genre and value the artists featured. The magazine will focus on one artist per issue, as to keep the magazine new and different each week.

GENRE The genre for this magazine will be late 90’s, early 00’s, focusing more heavily on the 90’s. This is because I believe that there is a huge gap in the market for this genre. 11/14 people who answered my survey didn’t read magazines. This means that there is a large group who are perhaps not represented in the magazine market. This is why my magazine will be representing a lost genre.

COVER PRICE My magazine will be cheap as to appeal to my target audience. The audience would not have a hugely disposable income as they are mostly teenagers and young adults, likely still in education or low paying, full time jobs.

I will price my magazine at £5.

PUBLICATION PATTERN I would produce this magazine once every months as to ensure the quality of the magazine was as good as it could be for the customers, it would also encourage a fan base to discuss the magazine and anticipate the next release.

READER PROFILE Jessica is 25 and grew up with 90’s and the noughties defining her childhood. She enjoys new music but also loves those nostalgic tunes that bring her right back to her childhood. She has a low disposable income (ABC1) as she left university with a huge debt, and moved into a flat she is renting. Her sister, Sarah also enjoys reading ‘poser’ as there’s not all that girly, gossip stuff that she doesn’t like although she is still interested in the 90’s style.

STYLE The style of this magazine will be fairly reminiscent of those in the 90’s/00’s. These magazines were bright and busy, this will be replicated in my magazine.

The style of the articles within the magazine will be exciting, something to look forward to reading. The articles will often be looking back on the artists featured, when they were in their prime.

The magazine may also introduce giveaways and competitions to keep the readers coming back. They will constantly be intrigued about what they could be winning so they will become repeat customers.

ATTITUDE The magazine will be bold and exaggerated but just enough that it creates an enigma code but doesn’t become another gossip magazine targeted solely at girls.

This will force the readers to remember the magazine. This will be done through contrast of colours on the front page such as white on black, red on white etc.

Whilst the magazine needs to still look clean, there needs to be some concentrated, organised mess on each page. This is because the genre itself isn’t always clean, it sometimes can become slightly rough as we want to represent within our magazine.

MISSION STATEMENT ‘Poser’ promises to be the

ultimate guide to the late 90’s, early 00’s with all the terrible fads like double denim and frosted tips, all the terrible songs you just can’t help but sing along to and all the amazing music videos you’ve forgotten about.

We promise to bring back memories with each new issue, focusing on one artist every month so we can bring you the best interviews around.
