This PhD

• Modelling ECE diagnostics at JET using SPECE– Install SPECE code and use it to model JET shots

– Add models of diagnostics onto SPECE

– Install and optimise module into integrated system

• Exploit physics capabilities of method– Reconstruct JET temperature profiles

– Study impact of non-thermal electron distributions in JET

• Study of system for use in ITER– ITER is the next big step for fusion (project unites EU, Japan, Russia, South Korea, India, US and China)

– To be built in Southern France, operational by end of 2018
