PG&E Hunters Point Site Project Advisory Committee Update September 11, 2015 This is the latest update from PG&E’s Hunters Point Team to the Project Advisory Committee (PAC) and members of the Bayview-Hunters Point community. This update provides an overview of current and upcoming PG&E activities on and around the Site. Area J Cleanup Mobilization This month, PG&E will begin final soil clean up in Area J. Area J is on the western corner of Evans Avenue and Jennings Street (see attached Site Map). Beginning next week, you may see equipment being moved onto the Site. This will include a trailer, a temporary fence, air monitors, and other equipment. Starting next week, you may also notice temporary changes to the traffic and pedestrian area next to Area J. For example, the sidewalk will be temporarily relocated to the right turn lane of Evans Avenue to allow for work in Area J. A temporary fence and concrete barrier wall will mark the temporary walkway. Signage and flaggers will safely guide pedestrians and local traffic through the traffic adjustment. Also, the bus stop for the in-bound 19- Polk and out-bound 44-O’Shaughnessy lines has been temporarily relocated. See the attached Site Map for the new bus stop. Per the work plan approved by the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), we will be excavating soil near the retaining wall adjacent to Evans Avenue, and then installing a durable cover over the area. Once cleanup work is complete, we will also make streetscape improvements to Jennings Street, including adding a new overlook plaza. Active cleanup work will begin mid-month and is expected to be finished by the end of the year. The duration could change due to weather and other factors affecting safe working conditions. Work will occur from 7:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. If needed, we may work from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday and Sunday. Air monitoring will take place during soil disturbing work. See the Site Map for air monitor locations. Area B Infrastructure Upgrades Over the next two months, we will be installing new electrical services to Area B (the NOW Hunters Point events area). This will enable us to host a wider variety of events. During this work, efforts will be made to limit impacts to businesses in the area. Traffic control (during the closure of one lane on Jennings Street) will be provided to support vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Gas Pipeline Replacement In the coming months, you may notice PG&E upgrading gas pipelines in the area. Work will take place on Evans Avenue, from Rankin Street to Mendell Street. We expect activities to start in late September or early October
