Disability on Television: Access, Representation and Reception

Researchers in the Internet Studies Department at Curtin University request your participation in a study that will help us understand potential benefits and challenges of the digital television switchover for Australians with disabilities. This research involves a number of phases across several years. The first phase is an online survey which is now open.

The survey will help us understand what Australians with disabilities think about the representation of disability in television news and entertainment programs but also the types of accessibility options that will enable greater access to this medium for people with disabilities.

The survey takes about 30 minutes to complete. Participation in this project is completely voluntary. You can refuse to answer any question and you can stop participation at any time.

The survey is available in any format that would be most accessible to you, including verbally. If you would like to be called, contact Senior Researcher Katie Ellis at [email protected]..

W.A disability and home ownership survey

We are seeking your support to email organisations and individuals, people you know that might be likely candidates to participate in an online survey that will help to identify the key challenges to home ownership and affordability for West Australians with disability and successful ways they have faced them.

What is the Study About?

Curtin University has been engaged by National Disability Services WA (NDS WA) to undertake this research study.

The results of the study will assist NDS WA to develop key policy directions; strategies and financial solutions to overcome barriers to home ownership and affordability for West Australians with disability.

What Does the Study Involve?

An important part of the study is to seek the feedback of West Australians with a disability, their carers and their families through an online survey. The survey link will be live from 1 August for four weeks.

The survey asks questions about:

Personal experience in the WA housing market

Housing accessibility and suitability Home ownership Affordability Impacts of the WA housing market Future challenges.

The survey information will be analysed to identify what are the key issues around housing and affordability for West Australians with disability.
