VARRYING MOVEMENT

Concept Exercise: Define movement in a 3x3 cube

I show movement through defining spirits of 3 unique paths within a rigid structure. Through the throught

process great importance is placed on understanding how visitors may view objects in the gallery.

Our challenge became fitting different

programs and circulation paths

together in an efficient and compelling

way. We first divided out and stacked

programs for most efficient circulation

paths, pushed main circulation to the

outside and clad with movement.

Rhythmic Structure

Nestling a performance hall centrally in our high-rise became the focal design desicion. The idea of opening up the city vertically was intriguing. This allowed for amazing city views in the lobby and while moving lobby and while moving through the playful circulation.

Playful Movement

Vertical fins are used to hide and expose private and public

interior spaces. Defining circulation from the exterior

made the overall structure more dynamic.

Rome is a special place deep in history and rich in culture. Every inch

of space has significance, making renovation difficult. This project

repurposes an out of commission gas plant into a school for musicians. The

towers are strong visual landmarks piercing the roman skyline.piercing the roman skyline.

OPEN PERFORMANCE

Various sized collaboration and practice rooms and large rehearsal and

performance spaces were needed for this school. Preserving the exterior facade

was important, but once inside the structre takes on a much less formal role.

NATURAL RHYTHM

CustomWood FixtureDelicate 1”x1” vertical lines divide this fixture into

sections, while broken horizontals provide visual interruptions. Understanding the surrounding

natural landscape played a key role in the overall look. This strong focal point is meant to tie in with the natural surrounding and provide individualized

space for specific client artifacts.
