THE HIGHLANDER September: A Vintage Month Get ready to relive some fond memories and create new ones! “The Past is the present, isnt it? Its the future too.” - This quote is taken from Eugene ONeills Long Days Journey into the Night. Greater Los Angeles has so much to see when it comes to Vintage offerings that we plan to take advantage in the month of September. We are reliving the past, whether its eating at a restaurant that is part of Pasadenas history or joining other residents as we visit some of the local classics. The last Concert in the Park is sure to bring back memories when songs of the Big Band era are featured. Experience more music played on the organs at the famous Nethercutt Museum. If organs arent your thing, the Collection includes vintage furniture and automobiles dating back to 1898. Our guess is that something you see here will bring back grand memories. September s calendar features outings to two well known eateries; The Hat and South Pasadena Pharmacy and Soda Fountain on Historic Route 66. Experience The Old West at the Autry National Center. Next, celebrate Rosh Hashanah on September 19 th with a tradi- tional Jewish family meal in our Dining Room. Rosh Hashanah is an ancient Jewish Feast marking the New Ye a r. It is a time to reflect on the past years mistakes and make plans for improvements for the New Year. Look inside to see what memories you can experience again in the month of September.

“We were overwhelmed by the hospitality ofthe Indian people as well as the history and physicalbeauty, but couldn’t overlook the abject poverty wesaw everywhere. As a result, 12 of the 19 Fulbrightscholars changed jobs that year.”

Gloria joined the Peace Corps and trainedcollege graduates assigned to Latin America. ThePeace Corps administrator urged her to pursue a
