12 OCTOBER 19, 2015 • PASCACK VALLEY PRESS WESTWOOD A new interior design store with a focus on photography is a welcome addition to Westwoodʼs shopping area, at 316A Kin- derkemack Road. Owner Barbara DeGraw, with 30 years in the com- mercial printing industry blended with her unsurpassed skills in pho- tographic printing, has combined Madison Avenue technology with art and photography. The result is a new art form being embraced by fine artists as well as interior designers. Stepping into harvey & DOT. (named for Barbaraʼs parents), vis- itors immediately know this is a unique experience. The gallery features outstanding photogra- phers, many who have discovered the excitement of printing on new surfaces including copper, galva- nized metal, wood and fabric that blow the lid off traditional photo- graphic materials. Vintage chairs have been re- purposed with fabric seat cushions that sport photographs of flowers or zebras. Photos printed on unusual materials lend themselves to creating a space that enhances the range of accessories also avail- able here. DeGrawʼs clientele find that they can tell their own story in their homes with the use of photo- graphic images in customizing designs – everything from a leather-covered cooler to wallpa- per imprinted with their own pho- tography. For those who are not great photographers themselves, a library of photos is available for selections, along with the assis- tance of in-house designers, to turn any room into a gem. Using the newest industrial technology, these photographically enhanced objects are designed to be weather-proof and hardy. On Thursday evenings, har- vey & DOT. offers free events to the public, including lessons in how to upcycle furniture, decorate with photography or incorporate feng shui at home, as well as artist receptions for changing exhibi- tions. DeGraw invites everyone to come in for coffee, to charge a cell phone, or to enjoy the experience of fine art and fun. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with extended hours until 9 p.m. on Thursdays harvey & DOT. opens in Westwood BY SUSAN MCTIGUE CORRESPONDENT harvey & DOT. creative director and CEO Barbara DeGraw offers unique design ideas based in photography.
