“ANNUAL BLESSING OF ANIMALS” Please join us for the annual blessing of animals, which will take place next Saturday, October 7
th,
at 1:00 PM by the Shrine of our Blessed Mother. Our pet companions are an important part of our families and this annual event gives us an opportunity to show them our love and care by imparting the special blessing of St. Francis of Assisi on them. This is also an opportunity to have any sick pet prayed for as well. The relic of St. Francis of Assisi will be used for the blessing of each pet individually. I hope that you can join us that day. All pets are welcome! Please bring your human companions along with you. NOTE WELL: Snakes should be kept in tightly locked containers with additional straps to keep them from getting loose. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

ST. JAMES CELEBRATES A “BLUE MASS” This Sunday, October 1st, at the 12:30 PM Mass, our parish will celebrate our third annual “Blue Mass” in recognition of all police officers, firefighters and first responders. We are grateful to them for their generous service to us. We have many parishioners and neighbors who serve us in this way. That is why it is fitting and right that we take this opportunity to extend our appreciation, good wishes and prayerful support to them. Immediately after the “Blue Mass” we will have a special brief ceremony by “Blue Fountain.” This fountain was the Eagle Scout project of Christopher Camardella. It is our hope that “Blue Fountain” will serve as a constant reminder to everyone of our gratitude, respect and support for all police officers, firefighters and first responders, both active and retired! The next time you see one of these men or women why not make it a point to thank them personally. They are truly heroes living among us who have dedicated themselves to keeping us safe and helping us in need. As such, they are outstanding examples of Gospel life and Jesus who came among us as “one who serves.” I invite you to pray this special prayer regularly for them: Lord Jesus, who freely laid down your life for us in an act of selfless love! We give you thanks and praise for the generous and dedicated service given to us by those in law-enforcement, firefighters and all first responders. We ask that you bestow your blessing and protection upon each of these men and women who run towards danger in order to protect and serve us. O Mary, bestow your maternal care upon them by placing your mantel of protection over these generous people of service who give us clear examples of your Son. AMEN! Thank you and God bless you!
