QUOTES OF FAMOUS FATHERS “A father is a man who expects his son to be as good a man as he is meant to be.” -Frank A. Clark “One father is more than a hundred schoolmasters.” -George Herbert “My father didn’t tell me how to live, he lived, and let me watch him do it.” -Clarence B. Kellard “The most important influence in my childhood was my father.” -DeForest Kelly “She got her looks from her father. He’s a plastic surgeon.” -Groucho Marx “The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.” -Theodore Hesburgh
“HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!” I am delighted to extend Happy Father’s Day greetings to all the fathers in our parish. I also want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all of you for providing the home where we priests live, a “Home for Unwed Fathers!” OK, I won’t give up my day job! I am not sure why I am so surprised that I frequently think of my dad who died almost two years ago. Sometimes, I say to myself, “I have to call my dad to tell him about such and such,” or “I wonder what my dad is doing right now.” A dad plays a crucial role in the development of his children. My dad taught me the value of hard work, honesty, loyalty, respect for others and courage. His dedication to our family was obvious in the many sacrifices that he made for us including working two jobs when we were children so he could provide for us. Each year I have the thought of asking the dads of our parish to write a letter to their children, whether or not it is actually sent to them. I want to publish sections of these letters so that their thoughts and feelings can be shared, if even anonymously. I think that sometimes our dads are not good in expressing their feelings but I know that they are there, often times hidden deep within them. Of course, Father’s Day can be a difficult one for those who didn’t have a good relationship with their fathers. It can also be a challenge for those men who wanted to become dads but were never given that incredible opportunity or blessing. So, Dads, Father’s Day is your day! And we just want to stop for a moment to celebrate you and all the good that you continue to do for us, your children. Let us pray for all of our dads, both living and deceased. We love you and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Happy Father’s Day St. Joseph, the Foster Father of Jesus, is the
Patron Saint of Fathers, his loving devotion to
both Mary and Jesus makes him the perfect
role model for all fathers.
St. Joseph is known as a “just man” in
the Bible, this phrase is reserved for people
who were known to be completely open to
God’s will. Think about St. Joseph’s YES to
God, just like Mary, he chose to listen to God
and accept Jesus as his own. God chose Joseph
because he was humble and faithful like Mary,
and the perfect choice to raise His Son. Think
about all St. Joseph did to protect and nurture
his family.
Prayer to St. Joseph for Fathers
St. Joseph, guardian of Jesus and chaste husband of Mary, you passed
your life in loving fulfillment of duty. You supported the holy family of
Nazareth with the work of your hands. Kindly protect those who trustingly
come to you. You know their aspirations, their hardships, their hopes.
They look to you because they know you will understand and protect
them. You too knew trial, labor and weariness. But amid the worries of
material life your soul was full of deep peace and sang out in true joy
through intimacy with God's Son entrusted to you and with Mary, his
tender Mother. Assure those you protect that they do not labor alone.
Teach them to find Jesus near them and to watch over him faithfully as

In the Gospel, Jesus says:
“This is how it is with the
reign of God. A man
scatters seed on the ground.
He goes to bed and gets up
day after day. Through it all the seed sprouts and
grows without his knowing how it happens.”
Through your almsgiving you are sowing
seeds that grow far greater than you know.
Your gift placed in the St. Vincent de Paul
poor box brings Christ’s love and
compassion to the poor.
