BrochureDescription: A tri-fold travel brochure
Programs: Abobe InDesign and Photoshop
Date: 12 July 2015
Course: Communications 130
Instructor: Benjamin Pingel
Objectives: To showcase what Singapore has to offer for tourists and visitors
Process: I created my logo in InDesign, and wanted it to be in a very focused spot. I used Photoshop to edit my image, especially for the aquarium image where I used TextWrap in InDesign. I had to be sure the image was ready for that when I brought it into InDesign. I used the quick selection tool in Photoshop to get rid of most of the background. The changes I made in the refine mask box made a softer image that didnt look so sharp and cutout against the brochures background. I also tried my best to keep the rule of thirds throughout my brochure.
FlierDescription: Black & White flier to promote a graduate leadership conference.
Programs: Abobe InDesign
Date: 9 May 2015
Course: Communications 130
Instructor: Benjamin Pingel
Objectives: My goal was to get the attention of seniors in college who have the desire to become leaders in the business world - anyone currently enrolled in university, particularly seniors.
Process: I started with four sketches, two of which I really liked. I used Adobe InDesign to draw both sketches out, and after some discussion with a fellow designer I ultimately picked the final layout. I decided to have repetition with the black boxes in my design and to have the rule of thirds present as well. There is good contrast between the fonts of the title and body, but also consistency throughout the layout.

WebpageDescription: A web page designed to showcase a personally created logo for Augment Consulting firm.
Programs: Adobe InDesign and TextWrangler (HTML and CSS)
Date: 28 June 2015
Course: Communications 130
Instructor: Benjamin Pingel
Objectives: To showcase that my design skills include webpage design as well.
Process: I created this web page using TextWrangler. I attached a pre-made CSS document to my HTML. I then used the colors from my logo as the colors for my web page. I found these colors by opening Photoshop and using the eyedropper tool. I also changed my fonts to Foot Light MT and Verdana. I declared some backup fonts just in case the viewers browser did not have these fonts. I also used padding around the logo, text and within the border of the heading so that they would not be too close to the edge of the web page. I also added an image for the background of the web page to give it more color. I found a background image that goes well with the color scheme.

LogosDescription: Logo for Ellis Jewelry Company
Programs: Abobe Illustrator
Date: 5 June 2015
Course: Communications 130
Instructor: Benjamin Pingel
Objectives: I wanted to show that trendy jewelry is available at this store, by creating an upbeat but professional logo.
Process: I used the eclipse tool to make the ring on top of the letter e. This required a constant use of the anchor tools to adjust the ovals to make it look more like a ring. Most of the people I asked liked the ring with the logo as it made it more trendy, so after I got my feedback I edited the logo a little more and changed the colors. I included & co. to add to the sophistication of the company.
MontageDescription: An inspirational montage made by the blending of two or more images, and the use of typography.
Programs: Abobe Photoshop
Date: 13 June 2015
Course: Communications 130
Instructor: Benjamin Pingel
Objectives: I wanted to convey that God is aware of each one of us and has power to do all things for our benefit. This is for anyone who has the desire to know God.
Process: I cropped the background image to 8.511 so that my design from the very beginning would be in the right size to print. I then created another layer for the background so that I could play around with the opacity. I used the lasso tool on the image of Jesus, and use the brush tool to get ride of the hard edges after I placed Him on the background and created a mask. I added a title and copy body with two contrasting fonts and I added a layer style (soft, black shadow) to the quote to make the text more legible.

even if that ground is limited.

ImagingDescription: Demonstrate good photography and image editing skills. Incorporating color into a poster layout with an original photo.
Programs: Abobe Photoshop
Date: 23 May 2015
Course: Communications 130
Instructor: Benjamin Pingel
Objectives: I wanted to make a motivational poster for currently enrolled BYU-Idaho students that would motivate them to study. The goal is to inspire them to think and to be motivated to be curious learners.
Process: I went to the Ricks Gardens at BYU-Idaho to look for inspiration. With camera in hand I took a lot of pictures there. I found this purple tree and knew I wanted to design something with it. I decided to choose a split complementary color scheme with violet, brick and green as my colors to match the purple tree in the image. I edited my image in Photoshop, and added text and the design elements.
