Life at The College of New JerseyClimate and Clothing
You should come prepared for changes in the weather: very cold winters, hot summers, and pleasant days in between. The temperature frequently drops to 30°F (-7°C) in winter and rises to 90°F (32°C) with high humidity in summer. On campus and in the classroom, informal attire such as t-shirts, jeans, slacks, and shirts is acceptable. It is helpful to bring business/smart casual or cultural outfits to wear to campus events and celebrations. November-March you will need a heavy coat. It can rain during any season. It can snow from December-February.
Housing/Student Residences
Students are guaranteed housing in our on campus housing options. Most students are placed in the Townhouses. Each Townhouse community has access to free laundry facilities (bring your own detergent), mail room, staffed office, and lounge. Exchange students will not be charged tuition and fees, but will need to pay for housing, meals, and health insurance during their time in the U.S. You will be responsible for purchasing cleaning supplies and cleaning your own room and shared spaces.

Transportation
TCNJ is connected to public transportation through New Jersey Transit (NJTransit.com). The 601 bus will connect you to the Trenton Transit Center where you can connect to NJTransit trains to Newark Liberty International Airport and New York City, SEPTA trains to Philadelphia, and Amtrak trains that can take you to major cities throughout the US. There is a small airport walking distance from the campus--Trenton/Mercer Airport. This airport has frequent flights to Florida. In addition, it is easy to travel to either Philadelphia International Airport or Newark International Airport via public transportation. Students may access many different shopping centers via the NJ Transit 601 bus as well as the free “loop bus” that runs after the beginning of the semester.
