Dear Parents and Carers Here we are at the end of another successful term. This year has been full of challenges that we never thought we would have to face. Regardless, we are surging ahead with positive outcomes for all of our students and that is due to the commitment of our wonderful teachers, parents and wider school community in ensuring our students stay safe and healthy. As such, many events that would be open to all have become virtual. This week has seen a sports week in a different format. Over the week, each year level are participating in a sports morning. This has made the sports day a much smaller, personal event that has been enjoyed by all participants. A massive thank you to Mr Hook and Mrs Saunders for all of your hard work in making this such a successful event. Lots of photos have been taken each morning, so please let your child’s teacher know if you have missed out on seeing your child in an event and we will do our best to provide you with a snapshot. The next virtual event we are preparing for is our school concert. Mrs Walker has been busy working with all classes practicing their performance for this. A letter will be sent home to parents later this week to let you know what the costume requirements are for your child. The filming of these performances will be on Thursday 22nd October. These videos will then be put on Dojo and Facebook. Please make sure you let your child’s teacher know if you do not want your child to be on social media. I hope you all have a wonderful two week break, and we look forward to seeing you all on the 12th October when school resumes. Last week our Year 6 students attended Palmerston College for a Taster Day. Students were taken on a tour of the campus and had the opportunity to participate in two elective classes. Some of the classes that were offered for them to experience were Home Economic, PE, Visual Arts, Music and Digital Technology. Enrolment Paperwork for Palmerston College has been sent home with students. Please feel free to return the Enrolment Forms to the College or to Durack School and we will return them for you.
On Thursday 10th September, 4 students from Durack attended the Meaningful Maths Enrichment Day at Palmerston College. Throughout the day, the students worked on a range of math challenges including solving riddles, finding the speed an object travels and using systems to solve complex problems.
Students had so much fun they did not realize they were learning.

They wake up then meow for food,

When all along the clue was you!

Dog Tales I am fluffy
But when you wash me, I become puffy. I wag my tail all day long,
And when I howl, I howl in a song. When I’m obedient, I’ll be given a treat,
But she’ll make sure it’s not a human sweet When I am sad,
My tail hangs down and doesn’t wag. My dog has a soft tail,
And I get excited and bark when we get mail.
