NEW ROPE STRING BAND AND BAYOU GUMBO DOUBLE BILLSaturday 3 MayNew Rope String Band 7.30pm–9.30pm. Seated Event. Our celebratory evening opens with a welcome back to the once seen, never forgotten: an indefinable confusion of superb musicianship and side-splitting comic genius, the New Rope String Band. Elements of circus, clowning, vaudeville, slapstick and sheer inspired silliness are spliced with beautiful acoustic music from various world traditions, in precision-honed yet uproarious performances. These three maniac minstrels mix up long-time favourite routines with ever-evolving new material – expect the hilariously unexpected.‘...brought the house down with their virtuosic japes, playing fiddle tennis with an elusive note, and beating out a tune with a ladder-full of pipes.’

Stirring, bellows-pumping energy, tight, subtle fiddle-bowing, pepper-hot guitar, and a bass and drum rhythm section kicking dancers’ feet into action. This is a band that fills the dance floor! They played at the opening of Otley Courthouse and they’ve re-formed for a one-off. Tickets for the double bill: £14/£12 in advance, £15/£13 on the door. 23 balcony seats ensuring seating for both halves: £15 flat rate in advance only. Sure to sell out so please book quickly!
