Foreword

ASON technology applied to next generation transmission

networks has now improved. Huawei’s ASON solution

include OptiX ASON V100R001 (R1)and OptiX ASON

V100R002 (R2). R2 is the latest version which includes allthe functions of R1 and also supports new features. This

course is a detailed introduction on the new features of R2.

Crankback mechanism:

when rerouting fail due to link or node failure, ASON will try to

use the Crankback operation, and exclude the failed link or

node that lead to the operation failure, in this way, enhancing

the creation , optimization and rerouting success ratio of the

service.

New rerouting strategy：

Do not use existing trails whenever possible;

Use existing trails whenever possible (Save network bandwidth

resource );

No rerouting constraint (Based on path Metric).

Higher Order Path Level Rerouting：

Locating the fault indicated by AU-AIS;

Rerouting is triggered by AU-AIS.

ASON R2 supports TE link degrading when NE fails or

control link is down. ASON will avoid these degraded TE

links when there is trail rerouting.

Preset Restoring Trail

ASON supports presetting restoring trail for a silver ASON trail.

When the silver ASON trail reroutes, the service can be restored

to the preset restoring trail.




Path Pre-Calculation

When creating and optimizing service, T2000 issues a command to

the NE to perform auto pre-calculation. Any changes in route

restrictions, source/sink, or protection type trigger the auto pre-

calculation.





Unidirectional Tunnel Service: the cross-connect of tunnel service in onenode is static cross-connect, another node is intelligent cross-connect. It

supports end to end tunnel service between ASON NE and non-intelligent

NE.

Revertive Service

R2 provides Diamond, Gold, Silver level revertive

service;

Auto-revertive:

When the service reroute to the new route, the original route

will be reserved. The ASON service will revert to original route

and delete the original route after WTR time when the failure is

restored;

After the service reroute to the new route, if the this route fails

in WTR time then the service will revert to the original route

immediately.

Trails association between two silver/copper trails or two tunnel

trails;

SLA Group

R2 supports ASON service group for LCAS. Trails of LCAS

member connections created must be as separate as

possible. These connections can be restored by rerouting;

Supports adding and deleting SLA group and in-service SLAmember management;

R2 supports SLA group attributes modification and group

members routes modification;

Querying the information of SLA group and SLA member.





R2 provides in-service migration for Diamond, Silver and Copper

trails;

Authentication for the OSPF & RSVP

protocols can improve the security of the

network in an ASON domain;

Authentication mode: No Authentication,

MD5 Encryption Authentication, Plain

Text Password Authentication.




New Function for Networking &

Maintenance

Adding or deleting MSP VR dynamically:

Modifying MSP bandwidth dynamically;

Configuring two MSP VR within one fiber (OptiX OSN

1500/2500/3500/7500).

Forced switch for MSP VR;

R2 provides subnet compatibility for ASON NE and non-intelligent

NE;

1+1 linear MSP access at the edge of ASON network.

In R1, when MSP is configured, the resource of this optical port is divided

into three data links (working, protection and no protection);

One data link correspond to one TE link;

Each optical port can provide one MSP.

In R2, there is one TE link in one fiber;

Different timeslots in TE links have different protection attributes.

Timeslots having the same attributes is called segment;

Support multiple MSP in one optical port.

Link Verification

R1 The connectivity of the data link can only be verified by J0 byte.

R2The connectivity of the data link can be verified by J0 byte (by default)

or DCC bytes.

R2 supports verification modes auto-negotiation, J0 mode is used by default. If NODE A

is set to DCC mode, but NODE B still works in J0 mode, then the link between A and

B can not use DCC mode. After 30s the link will automatically change to J0 mode.

If there is a non-intelligent NE between two ASON NEs, the J0 bytes willbe terminated by the intermediate NE. So it is impossible to use the J0

mode to verify the links. Then, DCC mode can be used to verify the link.

Diamond Service provision

There are three types of diamond services in R2:

Permanent 1+1 diamond service: Rerouting is triggered once

an LSP fails;

Rerouting 1+1 diamond service: Rerouting is triggered onlywhen both LSPs fail;

Non-rerouting diamond service: Rerouting is never triggered.

R1 gold service: Only the MSP working path can be used to create gold service;

The MSP working path will be used in case of rerouting;

The non-protection bandwidth resources can be used when the MSP working

bandwidth resources are insufficient.

R2 gold service:

The MSP working timeslot is used to create gold services;

The non-protection timeslot can be used to create the gold service when the

MSP working path is insufficient.

The MSP protection timeslot can be used for rerouting if no available resource.





ASON R1 iron service:

Iron trail can be created with protection path of MSP;

Iron trail can be preempted by gold trail when the MSP switched.

ASON R2 iron service:

The MSP timeslot is used to create iron services and to optimize iron trails.

The non-protection timeslot can be used only when the MSP timeslot is

insufficient.

The iron trail can be preempted by the trail of a higher level such as silver level.

The iron services can be recovered after the service of a higher class reverts

to the original trail.
