Brothers,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We certainly had a great looking village and town thanks to

the early and very wet snowfall--my backyard looked like a Currier and Ives print. Let's hope Mother Nature

can bless us with a similar pretty picture for Christmas.

And as we enter the wonderful season of Advent, let's take a moment to be sure amidst the changes of the

world, our hearts truly will love and cherish what God has promised, and given us all, with the birth of His

only Son. I know I needn't remind us to keep Christ in Christmas, as it is in all our hearts and in the heart of

our Order. May we do all we can as Hibernians to encourage others to remember the Reason for the Sea-

son!

Mid-Hudson Parade Aide to the Grand Marshall

Please join me in congratulating our selection for Aide to the Grand Marshall for the Mid-Hudson St. Patrick's

Day Parade, Mr. Cornelius O'Riordan. Neal is in my mind one of our great Hibernians, who as the Chair of

the JDJ Corporation was instrumental in setting the bar high for contributions in that position. We need only

look at the wonderful new floor in our Celtic Lounge, or to the finances of the corporation, to see what Neal

was able to accomplish. He can also be relied upon to be a frequent supporter of our activities, and is some-

one who I rely upon for sound counsel. Our Division will be proud to walk behind you and the Parade Grand

Marshall this coming March.

NYC Parade

While we are on the subject of parades, I must mention the NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade. As we know,

the parade is once again the center of controversy. Last year, we experienced the cowardly actions of a

number of the parade's supporters, withdrawing their financial support for the parade at the 11th

hour. This year, parade organizers capitulated to political and social pressure and admitted the openly Gay

organization, NBCOut, to march under their own banner in the parade next year. We have discussed this

and not yet come to a final decision about whether the Division will march next year. To preserve our

options, I have decided, with the counsel of your Board, to pay the affiliation fee for next year's pa-

rade. We will be discussing the parade at the upcoming Orange County Board meeting December 7th,

and during the December Division meeting on December 12th. I strongly encourage any member who has

an opinion one way or the other to communicate their feelings, by attending one of the aforementioned

meetings, or sending me an email at the Recording Secretary address (you may reply to the newsletter to

use this option), or directly to [email protected]. We will endeavor to seek the advice of the

membership on this important issue, so please let your thoughts be known.

Christmas Gathering and Ireland's 32 Early Bird

The Division will have its annual Christmas Gathering for Adults and Kids on December 21st at the Celtic

Lounge. We will get started at around 2 PM, there will be a cash bar with Happy Hour pricing and light

fare. Bring a wrapped gift with your Child's name written on it for Santa to give to him or her! We will

also hold the Ireland's 32 Early Bird Drawing (please let me apologize for the delay in distributing this

year's tickets, we hope to have this addressed by the time you read this message.)

Good and Welfare

Please be sure to alert Bob Burns or any Board member if you have knowledge of a member experiencing

any health issues, entering a nursing home, or any other situation the Division should be aware of. Re-

member, we are Brothers and should be ready to assist one another.

2015 Dues

2015 Dues are now in order. Once again, we are not increasing dues and they remain at $40 for the up-

coming year. Please remit your dues early. You may visit the Hall and use our lockbox, see Tom Keahon

at any meeting, or mail your dues to PO Box 337, Monroe, NY 10950. Please remember that you can

also pay $100 to the JDJ Corporation Building Fund. Your name will be added to the Building Fund plaque

and your dues will be paid by the JDJ. A dues reminder postcard has been mailed to your address on file

with the Division.

2014 Membership Cards

Owing to the slack off in attendance at Division meetings, we have a large number of membership cards

still on hand for 2014. Please visit the Hall on meeting night and see Tom Keahon to obtain your card.

Celtic Lounge

Please remember a center of our social life as a Division is our Hall, and the wonderful Celtic Lounge with-

in. We need your patronage to continue to run the bar...please visit! The Celtic Lounge is now open six

days a week, Wednesday through Monday, opening weekdays and Saturday at 6 PM, and on Sunday during

American football season at 1 PM. We close by 10 PM unless the craic is mighty, so come by and help us

stay open late! (Please drink responsibly!) Our one day of rest is Tuesday. Please come by and thank

your bar staff led by Ken Quinn. We have a great selection of tap and bottled beer, spirits and sports on

our wide screen TVs. We have a great core of folks who are regulars and support the bar--add yourself

that number and you won't be sorry!

PEC Updates

Not too much happening in the latest round of "talks" in N.I. if one was to edit the insults flying

from the Unionist camp in an attempt to goad and make a mockery of the Gaelic language. It

seems that DUP Chairman Peter Robinson is preoccupied with next years Westminster's general

election as opposed to hammering out a final draft of the good Friday agreement. It's been obvi-

ous from the outset that the Unionist side has never intended to bring closure to the issues out-

standing in the original agreement. To make things even more uneventful we have Pres. Obama's

so called amnesty dropped into the media which has buried the prospect of any progress coming out of Stormmont being highlighted in the world press. The Unionists have taken the lull in the

action as an opportunity to attempt once again to slander and belittle Sinn Fein by pushing for-

ward a Belfast woman who has recently recovered from being raped by a SUSPECTED IRA mem-

ber as a teenager and then was subjected to a shameful and degrading interrogation by Sinn Fein.

The objective here is to once again slander Gerry Adams and call for his resignation which of

course will not happen. How is one to feel optimistic and hopeful of talks succeeding when one

side of the negotiations is actively plotting to disgrace the other party ? In closing, there is a great

piece of commentary by Michael Cummings in the Nov.19th--25th edition of the Irish Echo which

for those of us still interested is worth the time. Mr. Cummings is probably one of the foremost

authorities on British treachery speaking and writing of it in this country today.
