FOREWORD

This order establishes guidelines and procedures for the systematic de- struction or retention of FAA records and their retirement to a Feded Records Center.

The retirement and/or destruction of noncurrent files from operating of- fices is essential to release high cost office space and equipment for the mainte- nance of current files. Records are considered inactive or noncurrent when they are referred to less than once a month per cubic foot of material in- volved.

This order has been sent to the National Archives and Records Adminis- tration (NARA) for review.
