Software License Agreement
This Software License Agreement is a legally binding agreement between you (“User”) and FOR-A Company
Limited (“Company”). The software, user manual and all other associated documentation (collectively, “Product”)
are licensed, not sold, to the User. By installing and using the software, or by using a product of the Company in
which the software is installed, User agrees to be bound by all terms and conditions of this agreement, as set forth
below.
1. Grant of License
a. The Company grants User a license to operate the Product in the manner specified in the user
manual and other associated documentation. User may not use the Product in any manner other than
that specified.
b. The Company only grants User a license to personally use the Product, and does not allow User to
transfer the license to a third person or to enable a third person to use the Product by any other
method.
c. In principle, the software may only be used on a single computer or device.
d. While the software may include various programs, they may not be unbundled and used as
standalone programs.
2. Restrictions on Distribution, Duplication, Leasing and/or Transfer of Product
User may not, without the Company’s prior permission, distribute via communication lines, or lease or
transfer electronic copies of the Product to another party, in whole or in part, nor attempt to do so.
3. Limitations of Guarantee
The Company and its program licensors disclaim all legal warranties, express or implied, with respect to
the Product. User must use the Product at his or her own risk. In no event shall the Company and its
program licensors be liable for any damages or loss of data or contents resulting from User’s use of or
inability to use the Product.
4. Provision of Upgrades and Updates
Whenever a software version is upgraded or updated, User may use the new version of the software by
paying the amount separately specified by the Company. After upgrading software, User may not use an
earlier version without the Company’s prior permission.
5. Term of Validity of Agreement
This agreement shall be effective for a period of one year from the day User begins using the software.
The same conditions of the agreement shall be extended for further one-year terms unless User or the
Company expresses, at least one month prior to expiration of the agreement, the intent not to renew the
agreement.
6. Termination of Agreement
a. The Company reserves the right to immediately terminate this agreement if User corresponds to any
of the following circumstances.
(1) User violates any terms of this agreement
(2) User is unable or refuses to make any required payment.
b. User may terminate this agreement by written notice to the Company under the following
circumstances, but may not seek a refund of the amount that User has already paid to the Company.
(1) User waives the license.
(2) User destroys or loses the software package and prevents the Company from being able to confirm
its existence.
c. After termination of this agreement, User may not use the Product in any way, shape or form.
7. Ownership
The Company and its program licensors retain all rights, including copyright and intellectual property
rights, to the Product. User may not modify any program included in this software, nor disassemble,
decompile, or reverse-engineer a program to analyze its source code.
8. Others
This agreement will be governed by and construed in accordance with copyright laws and treaties in
Japan and by laws and international treaties relating to intangible property rights. User must comply with
all copyright laws as well as applicable laws and regulations when using the Product.
9. Jurisdiction
Any dispute relating to the Agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District
Court of Japan.
10. Support
If the Company discovers a flaw in the software or revises a program within one year after User receives
the software, the Company will provide information regarding the flaw or revision or a revised program to
User, free of cost.

1. Prior to Starting
1-1. Overview
FOR-A LUT Converter allows you to convert 1D-LUT, One-dimensional Lookup Table, files of
various camera log formats to a FOR-A original format (FOR-A 1D-LUT), which is a dedicated
format for FOR-A products, FA-9600 and USF-106UDC/DC-12G.
General 3D-LUT (Three-dimensional Lookup Table specifying colors with RGB values) files can
also be converted to the FOR-A original format (FOR-A 3D-LUT, .bin file). 3D-LUTs are very
effective for color conversions including gamut and dynamic range changes.

Conversion from various camera logs into FOR-A 1D-LUT
Supported 1D-LUT files:
Autodesk Lustre, Adobe After Effect, DaVinci Resolve and Sony SRW-1
FOR-A 1D-LUT file editing
Conversion from general 3D-LUTs used in various NLE systems
Supported 3D-LUT files:
Cube files created by Adobe Premiere CC, DaVinci Resolve or other software.
2. LUT Converter Installation
2-1. System Requirements
To install LUT Converter, your computer must meet the following requirements.
OS Windows® 7 Professional SP1 (32/64-bit)
Windows® 8.1,10 Pro (32/64-bit)
(Mac OS is not supported.)
CPU Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor 2 GHz or higher
RAM 2 GB or more
Display Resolution: 1280 x 1024 pixels or better recommended
Full color (24-bit) or more
Software Microsoft® .NET Framework 4.7.1
2-2. Installing the LUT Converter
(1) Go to the LUT Converter folder in the supplied CD-ROM and double-click setup.exe.

(2) If .NET Framework 4.7.1 installation is
required, a dialog window as shown
at right appears. Click Accept.
(3) Click Yes to start the .NET Framework
installation.
(4) Click Next.

(5) Choose an installation directory.
Click Next.
(6) Click Next.
(7) Click Yes.
(8) Click Close.

Start the FOR-A LUTConverter from the Windows Start menu.

3. Converting 1D-LUTs
Once the converter is launched, click 1D-LUT to display 1D-LUT settings.
(1) Click Select to select a Log to be converted in the Camera 1D-LUT (EOTF) block.
There are two camera logs: EOTF and OETF. Select EOTF in this menu.

* LUT Size, Input(Min~Max), Output(Min~Max) values are automatically obtained from the
LUT.
(2) The file name and path after conversion (displayed in the File field in the FOR-A 1D-LUT block) is
automatically given from the source 1D-LUT file. If you need to change the path, click Select right
next to the File field.
To also create OETF data, check the OETF RAM DATA checkbox.
Clicking Settings enables you detailed settings. (See Sec. 3-1. Detailed Settings (FOR-A 1D-LUT
Settings) Window.”)
(3) Click Convert to convert the LUT.
Once the conversion is successfully finished, the “Finished!” message appears.
The converted LUT data is saved in the FOR-A 1D-LUT folder.

3-1. Detailed Settings (FOR-A 1D-LUT Settings) Window
Clicking Settings in the Main screen displays the following window.

Gamma Curve Gamma curve name with up to 15 alphanumeric characters
EOTF RAM Offset Set the OETF Output Minimum value as negative number.
OETF RAM Offset Set the EOTF Output Minimum value as negative number.
EOTF Output Minimum Minimum value of EOTF output
OETF Output Minimum Minimum value of OETF output
EOTF Input Maximum Maximum value of EOTF input
EOTF Output Maximum Maximum value of OETF input
SDR/HDR Dynamic range
Comment A comment in the source camera log file header, which is to be inserted into the FOR-A 1D-LUT file as a comment.
3-2. Version Information
To verify the LUT Converter version, right-click anywhere on the Main screen to display the About
button. Click the button to display the version information dialog.
Clicking OK applies changes.
Clicking Cancel cancels changes.

4. 1D-LUT Conversion Examples
When converting 1D-LUTs to FOR-A 1D-LUT, data interpolation pre-process is required. Therefore, the
larger the source LUT size (Max. 65536), the more accurate the converted LUT becomes.

4-5. 1D-LUT Conversion for ARRI Cameras
ARRI camera LUT data (ALEXA Series) can be obtained from the ARRI internet site. To convert
ARRI camera LUTs to FOR-A 1D-LUT, proceed as follows.
(1) Click the following URL to go to the ARRI Camera LUT Generator page.

(2) Choose Log-C Wide Gamut under Source Format.
(3) Choose Scene-Linear Wide Gamut Destination Format.
(4) Choose 1D-LUT for LUT Format and Autodesk Lustre File Type.
(5) Click Generate LUT Files to download a zip file.
(6) Unzip the downloaded file.
(7) Launch the LUT Converter.

(8) Click Select to specify the following file in the unzipped folder:
ARRI_log2linear_None_None_EI160.lut
(9) Click Convert to start LUT conversion.
A LUT with the name of “ARRI_logc2linear_None_None_EI160_FA1DLUT_OnlyEOTF.lut” is
created. When the conversion is successfully finished, the “Finished!” message appears.

4-6. 1D-LUT Conversion for Canon Log
(1) Click the following URL to go to the Canon Log download page to download LUT data.

(2) Unzip the downloaded file.
(3) Launch the LUT Converter.
(4) Click Select to select a desired 1D-LUT (.cube file).
(5) Click Convert. When the conversion is successfully finished, the “Finished!” message
appears.

5. Converting 3D-LUTs
Once the converter is launched, click 3D-LUT to display 3D-LUT settings.
(1) Click Select to select a general 3D-LUT to be converted in the 3D-LUT (.cube) block.
An error message appears if the selected LUT is unsupported.
File Name and LUT Size defined in the file are displayed.
For example, “33” is displayed if the file information is 33 x 33 x 33.
(2) The file name and path after conversion (displayed in the File field in the FOR-A 3D-LUT (.bin)
block) are automatically given from the source 3D-LUT file. If you need to change the path, click
Select right next to the File field.
(3) Long Title (Max. 31 characters) and Short Title (Max. 14 characters) can be assigned to a 3D-LUT.
Type names manually, if necessary. Copied text cannot be pasted in these fields.
(4) Select a color space for both input and output between BT.709 and BT.2020.
(5) Specify a gamma curve for both input and output from SDR, HLG, PQ and Others.
(6) Click Convert to convert the LUT.
When the conversion is successfully finished, the “Finished!” message appears.
