UVOD

Dragi prijatelji,Katalog, Jevrejske opštine Zemun od 2012 do 2014. godine, još jedna je prilika da se podsetimo aktivnosti koje su značaj-no obeležile naš rad.Proslava verskih praznika najvažniji je deo naših aktivnosti. U želji da uspostavi-mo duh zajedništva obnovimo i učvrstimo prekinute veze mnoge smo praznike pro-slaviljali u bratskim Jevrejskim/Židovskim zajednicama. Rado smo se odazivali i svim pozivima na druženja organizovana ši-rom ex Jugoslavije: Limud Kešet u Ohridu i Budvi, Makabijada koju organizuje JO Zrenjanin, Hinenu - JO Subotica, Lag BaO-mer - JO Beograd, Šolet - JO Novi Sad...Svake godine obeležavamo datume koji nas podsećaju na stra-danje Jevreja u Drugom svetskom ratu. Povodom sećanja na teranje Jevreja Zemuna u logore Jasenovac i Stara Gradiška, 1942. godine, naši članovi se okupljaju ispred spomenika na Jevrejskom groblju u Zemunu. Izložbom koju smo postavili u Biblioteci Grada Beograda, posvećenoj stradanju Jevreja u logo-ru Judenlager Semlin, obeležili smo 2013. godine međunarodni Dan sećanja na žrtve Holokausta. Izložbu je otvorio ministar kulture Republike Srbije Bratislav Petković.U želji da odamo dužno poštovanje onima koji su spasavali Je-vreje tokom Holokausta organizovali smo postavku izložbe „Pra-vednici iz Srbije“ u gradovima širom Srbije. Izložba je putovala od Beograda (Narodna biblioteka Srbije) preko Kanjiže (CNE-SA), Subotice (Sinagoga i Gradski muzej), Istorijskog arhiva u Zrenjaninu da bi se ponovo vratila u Beograd povodom Evrop-skog dana jevrejske kuture i potom se zaustavila u Spomen muzeju „21 oktobar“ u Kragujevcu. Naša aktivnost usmerena na podsećanje građana Srbije na stra-hote kojima su Jevreji bili izloženi u Srbiji tokom Drugog svet-skog rata nastavila se postavkom naše izložbe „Jevrejski logor Zemun – Holokaust i kolaboracija u Srbiji“ u okviru međuna-rodne konferencije „Uloga saradnika okupatora u nacističkom Holokaustu za vreme Drugog svetskog rata u Srbiji“ održane novembra 2012. Domaćin konferencije i pratećih manifestacija bila je Narodna biblioteka Srbije. Finansijer postavke bio je ing. Josef Žamboki. Povodom Dana sećanja na Holokaust – Jom Ha-

šoa 28.aprila 2014. izložba je otvorena u OŠ „Svetozar Miletić“ u Zemunu, zvanično proglašenoj najboljom osnovnom školi u Srbiji.Najnoviji projekat JO Zemun knjiga „Holokaust u Jugoslaviji“ dao je priliku autorima iz svih republika bivše Jugoslavije da objave svoje radove na temu stradanja Jevreja za vreme Dru-gog svetskog rata. Oslonac uredniku knjige i autorima izložbe, Nenadu i Milanu Fogelu, u realizaciji ovako zahtevne teme bila je profesorka beogradskog univerziteta dr Olivera Milosavljević, ujedno i pisac jednog od priloga u knjizi. Izložba „Pravednici iz Jugoslavije“ premijerno je otvorena u galeriji „Stara kapeta-nija“ u Zemunu. Izložbu je otvorio ministar prosvete Tomislav Jovanović. Sa istom izložbom i knjigom gostovali smo u Crnoj Gori na manifestaciji Limud Kešet. Poslednja postavka izlož-be u 2013. godini bila je u prostorijama Jevrejske zajednice Bet Israel u Zagrebu na kojoj se prisutnima obratio i istoričar Prof. dr Ivo Goldštajn, jedan od autora priloga u knjizi. Svoj put osvetljavanja dobrote pravednika izložba je nastavila do Novog Sada gde su se prisutnim posetiocima obratili Nenad Fogel i pisci istorijskih priloga u knjizi dr Olga Manojlović Pintar i Alek-sandra Nećak. Direktor OŠ „Svetozar Miletić“ iz Zemuna, Ljubo-mir Mosurović, organizovao je za nastavnike škole specijalni čas istorije na kome je pored pomenutih autora govorila i Prof. dr Olivera Milosavljević. Tajnik Židovske općine Osijek Drago Kohn upriličio je postavku izložbe u prestižnoj Osiječkoj galeriji „Ver-nissag“ ravnatelja Duška Vernačkog. Putujući od Zemuna izlož-ba je stigla do Jerusalima, u Kneset, izraelski parlament, kao znak zahvalnosti koju država Izrael daje ljudima koji su reskirali svoje živote zarad spasavanja Jevreja tokom Holokausta. Orga-nizatori manifestacije bili su Ministarstvo spoljnih poslova Izra-ela i Kneset. Veliku zahvalnost Jevrejska opština Zemun duguje donatoru i pokrovitelju manifestacije ing. Josefu Žambokiju. Po povratku iz Izraela izložba će nastaviti put Makedonije, Bosne i Hercegovine i Slovenije.Značajni događaj bila je promocija knjige „Usijani kamen pu-stinje“ u izdanju JO Zemun autora Milana Fogela. O knjizi je na promociji u JO Zemun govorio književnik Filip David.

INTRODUCTION

Dear friends,The Catalogue of the Jewish Community in Zemun for the period 2012 to 2014 is yet another occasion to remind ourselves of the ac-tivities carried out and completed during the period.The celebration of our religious holidays is traditionally one of our most important activities. Wishing to uphold the spirit of commu-nity interaction, renew and affirm severed ties, we have celebrated many of our holidays in our brotherly Jewish/Judaic communities. We welcomed and readily attended all social events we were invited to throughout the territories of ex-Yugoslavia: Limud Keshet in Ohrid and Budva, Macabeean tournament organized by JC Zrenjanin, Hine-na in JC Subotica, Lag BaOmer in JC Beograd, Sholet in JC Novi Sad...Year after year we have commemorated the dates that remind us of the suffering and annihilation of Jews in World War Two. In observ-ing and keeping alive the memory of the persecution and transport of Zemun Jews to death camps Jasenovac and Stara Gradiška during 1942, our members gather round the memorial erected in the Jewish Cemetery in Zemun. In 2013 we staged an exhibition dedicated to the persecution and death of Jews in Judenlager Semlin in the Bel-grade City Library and thus commemorated the Day of Remembrance of Holocaust Victims. The exhibition was opened by the Minister of Culture of Serbia, Mr. Bratislav Petković.In our continuing effort to give due honor to those who saved Jewish lives during the Holocaust we staged the exhibition “The Righteous of Serbia” in towns throughout Serbia. The exhibition travelled from Belgrade (The National Library of Serbia) to Kanjiža (CNESA), Subot-ica (the Synagogue and the City Museum), to the Historical Archives in Zrenjanin. On returning to Belgrade it marked the European Day of Jewish Culture and then continued further on to the Memorial Mu-seum “21 oktobar“ in Kragujevac.Our activity in reminding the citizens of Serbia of the horrors the Jews were submitted to in Serbia during World War Two was resumed by the staging of the exhibition “The Jewish Camp in Zemun – Holocaust and Collaborationism in Serbia” within the scope of the international conference “The role of enemy collaborators in the Nazi Holocaust during World War Two in Serbia” held in November 2012. The host to the exhibition and pertaining events was the National Library of Serbia. The exhibition was funded by Eng. Josef Žamboki. On the oc-casion of observing the Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust - Jom Hashoa, on April 28, 2014 the exhibition was staged in the elemen-tary school “Svetozar Miletić“ in Zemun. The school has officially been declared the best in Serbia.The JC Zemun’s latest project was the book “Holocaust in Yugoslavia”

where authors from all ex-Yugoslav republics were given the oppor-tunity to publish their studies and papers about the persecution of Jews during World War Two. The book editor and the authors of the accompanying exhibition, Mr. Nenad and Mr. Milan Fogel, were greatly indebted in the realization of this substantial subject matter to Bel-grade University professor Dr. Olivera Milosavljević, who was also one of the authors who contributed her paper for the book. The exhibi-tion “The Righteous of Yugoslavia” was first opened in the Gallery of “Stara Kapetanija” in Zemun. The exhibition was opened by the Minister of Education, Mr. Tomislav Jovanović. The same exhibition and book were presented as guests of honor in Montenegro at the celebration of Limud Keshet. The last staging of the exhibition held in 2013 was in the premises of the Jewish Community Bet Israel in Zagreb. Among others the audience was addressed by historian Prof. Dr. Ivo Goldstein, also one of the authors who contributed a paper to the Holocaust book. On its enlightening journey intended to point to the goodness of the Righteous the exhibition next reached Novi Sad where gathered guests were welcomed by Mr. Nenad Fogel and writ-ers of the historical studies comprised in the book, Dr. Olga Manojlović Pintar and Mr. Aleksandar Nećak. The Head Master of the elementary school “Svetozar Miletić“ from Zemuna, Mr. Ljubomir Mosurović, or-ganized a special history lesson for the school staff where the already mentioned author, Prof. Dr. Olivera Milosavljević, spoke to the gather-ing. The secretary of the Jewish Community Osijek, Mr. Drago Kohn, organized the staging of our exhibition in Osijek in the prestigious Gallery “Vernissag“, the director of which is Mr. Duško Vernački. In its travels from Zemun, the exhibition also reached Jerusalem and entered the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament. It was presented there as a token of gratitude paid by the State of Israel to people who risked their own lives in order to save Jews during the Holocaust. The orga-nizers of this event were the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel and the Knesset. The Jewish Community in Zemun is greatly indebted to the donor and event patron Eng. Josef Žamboki. On its return from Israel the exhibition will continue to travel the ex-Yu Republics of Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia.An important event held inside our community premises was the pro-motion of the book “The Red-Hot Stone of the Desert” published by JC Zemun, whose author is Mr. Milan Fogel. The renowned writer Mr. Filip David spoke about the book at the JC Zemun promotion.
