Harford Community College Scholarship Winner

Thanks to Members Who Made the

“Hope in Handbags” Event a Success

This year’s event raised over $28,000 to benefit Harford

Family House. This money will provide 1,040 nights of

shelter for local families.

Thanks to everyone at Freedom who helped — members,

employees and volunteers! Your support and generosity helped make this event a wonderful success for a great

cause.

(L-R) Kelly Brown, Medical Assistant with Upper Chesapeake

and Mike MacPherson, Freedom’s President/CEO

Congratulations to Kelly Brown, the recipient of the 2016 $1,000 Harford Community College Freedom Member Scholarship!

Ms. Brown is a mother of six who is a full-time employee of Upper Chesapeake as a Medical Assistant. She is enrolled in the Nursing Program at Harford Community College. Her goals are to complete her bachelor’s degree in nursing and eventually her master’s degree, and to become a Nurse Practitioner.

(L-R) Keith Gill, Chief Financial Officer, Kati Grasmick, Financial

Services Representative, and Jeff Herman, Business Banking

Specialist, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in September.

Freedom staffers joined Habitat for Humanity

Susquehanna to help out on a local demolition project. The home project, located in Edgewood, required clearing out the trash and debris, removing trim, tearing up the flooring, ripping out the kitchen cabinets, and creating a clean site for the renovation inside and out. The dirty work was done to help local residents buy safe, affordable housing in our area. It was a gratifying experience for the volunteers.

Other Freedom employees who helped with this volunteer effort included: Kelly Berends, Marcus Johnson, Rachel Schmidt, Susan Tannahill, Bob Wehland, and Andrea Woodard.
