Objectives :
1. ICARTT campaign summer 2004:
• Support flight planning: monitor any large deviations between the aircraft observations and our understanding of ozone and aerosol processes that may cause alteration of flight plans,
• Generate a set of preliminary findings
2. Support satellite validation: Used at JPL by Qinbin Li for first analysis of TES and MLS data
3. Comparison with in situ measurements: Used by Dan Jaffe’s group in University Washington

Solène Turquety – GEOS-CHEM Meeting April 4, 2005
Daily full chemistry simulations v6-02-03 :
2x2.5 horizontal resolution, 30 levels, global
based on GEOS-4 1st look met fields
daily-updated biomass burning emissions for North America based on MODIS hotspots
daily plane flight diagnostic
(1st included for ICARTT)
2-D “column” timeseries for tropospheric CO, O3, NO2, HCHO for 1st look, direct comparison with satellites
Runs semi-automated using perl scripts developed by Bob Yantosca
(ICARTT period July-August 2004, and September 2004 still available):
/as2/priv/ICARTT/
Daily means all GEOS-CHEM tracers, met. data, sources…
3h timeseries 3D:
CO, O3, NOx, PAN, PMN, HNO3, ACET, sulfate, AOD
3h timeseries 2D:
tropospheric columns CO, O3, HCHO, NO2
Along flighttrack for ICARTT when specified: • all GEOS–CHEM chemical tracers• absolute humidity• Temperature• wind speed• NO, OH, HO2• JNO2, JO1D• Aerosol optical depths
