If you’re a keen footballer, NULC is the place to be.

As a member of the NULC Football Academy, you will:

Be part of a Football Development Centre that has recently been awarded FA Focus College status Receive professional coaching from experienced UEFA licensed coaches • Take part in three practical training sessions a week (eight hours in total) to fit around your college timetable Play regular competitive fixtures in the Midland Football College’s national and regional league Play home games at Newcastle Town’s Lyme Valley stadium.

You have complete flexibility in the type of course you study, whether you choose A Levels or a vocational course (like engineering or public services) you can still be a member of the NULC Football Academy.

You will also receive help and support from Sports Science and have access to physiotherapy clinics.

Any questions?What are the entry requirements?The NULC Football Academy is open to 16-19 year old males and females. You can be a student on any full-time course. You’ll need to have a good level of football playing experience plus we’ll ask you to provide a suitable reference from your club or coach.

What will I do as part of the Football Academy?You’ll receive at least 8 hours of professional coaching each week, structured to fit around your timetable. We currently have one ladies and six men’s squads ranging from national level to local college leagues.

What will my training involve?Your training sessions will usually take place on the 3G pitch or grass pitches at the College campus. You’ll get help developing your individual skills as well as working on team tactics and set pieces. You’ll also receive your own technical programme to work to. Training may occasionally involve using the other facilities available at The Gordon Banks Sports Centre, such as the well-equipped fitness suite and indoor sports hall.

How do I apply?To gain a place on the NULC Football Academy, you’ll need to attend a trial to demonstrate your footballing ability and meet the minimum entry requirements for your chosen college course.
