The Nu- clear Cowboyz. The freestyle motocross riders will skyrocket 30-feet in the air performing acrobatic flips, sweep- ing through hurdles of bolstering flames and lighting riders on fire in a highly theatrical experience April 5-7 at Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario. The show follows a futuristic sto- ryline in a post nuclear Los Angles in 2150. During daylight, the pop- ulation spends its time trying to re- build the city and technology. At night, the world turns underground where two motorcycle gangs com- pete to own the city—enter the Nuclear Cowboyz roaring through the stadium for the big entrance. But the Cowboyz are invaded by a Temptress-led Cyborg Army, who rides in on a chariot, shooting at the Cowboyz. The army roars in on bikes and quads and is armed with lasers and pyros to destroy the Cowboyz and take over the earth. At this point, 25 riders are on the floor and the battle begins. “It’s not Shakespeare, but it’s pretty good,” said Micky Dymond, stunt director for the Nuclear Cow- boyz. “It’s quite a show. In many respects we’re doing what you see at the X-Games but with pyros and lasers and we’re putting multiple guys on the floor at once. We get it done.” Dymond said there is so much pyrotechnics involved that the temperature in the arena will rise about five degrees in a matter of seven minutes. And while the show has intense moments, it’s definitely a family-friendly show. He said it no longer attracts the typical freestyle motocross crowd of 18-30-year-old men. “We’ve grown into a broader au- dience and that makes a big differ- ence for the show,” he said. The motocross show is wrapping up its fourth season with three other weekends left after the On- tario visit, including two in Mex- ico and the last in Texas. Shows at the Citizens Business Bank Arena are scheduled 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday with a final show at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tick- ets start at $10 and are available the day of the show or online at www.nuclearcowboyz.com. Dymond said there are talks of developing an entirely new show for next season, but for now, he’s enjoying the ride. “The show itself has so much in it right now, but we can always go bigger and better. Either way, it’s an opportunity to come and enjoy a show that’s awe-inspiring.” IECN PHOTO COURTESY KATHY-JO LORENZ The freestyle motocross riders, Nuclear Cowboyz, will skyrocket 30-feet in the air performing ac- robatic flips, sweeping through hurdles of bolstering flames and lighting riders on fire in a highly theatrical experience April 5-7 at Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario.
