Novel and Dangerous Pathogens Training

Novel and Dangerous Pathogens (NADP) Training have dedicated facilities and staff and have delivered established and bespoke courses in biosafety, high containment and applied microbiology for over a decade. Over that time our portfolio of training courses has been developed to offer a wide range of practical, theoretical and e-learning modules in biosafety, high containment microbiology, molecular biology, applied microbiology and virology.

Our speakers are recognised experts in their fields and many courses are accredited with the relevant professional bodies, allowing for provision of evidence of continued professional development. We also offer a range of introductory courses for non-scientific staff.

What we offerNADP Training has dedicated facilities offering access to containment level 2 and 3 laboratories, including the ability to work with the actual pathogens rather than surrogate organisms. We do this by using state-of-the-art biocontainment in microbiological safety cabinets (biosafety cabinets; BSC) at classes I, II and III. We specialise in the provision of courses within the areas of biosafety and hazard group 3 pathogen handling and identification. Our containment level 3 laboratories are DEFRA licensed for animal pathogens and we can provide courses using live hazard group 3 agents as required.

Our areas of expertise include:

• Biosafety and Biocontainment

• Microbiological isolation and characterisation

• Recognition and identification of biological deliberate release agents

• Virology

• Diagnostics

• Molecular biology

These core areas are covered within a wide range of standard courses but we would be delighted to discuss your requirements for bespoke training. Our standard course portfolio is as follows:

• Introduction to the Principles and Practices of Working Safely at ACDP Containment Level 2

• Introduction to the Principles and Practices of Working Safely at ACDP Containment Level 3

• Applied Principles and Practices of Working at ACDP Containment Level 3 – Refresher Workshop

• Introduction to the Principles and Practices of Working at BSL-3 (BMBL standards)

• ISTR Accredited Biosafety Practitioner Level 1 course

• Virology Fundamental Laboratory Techniques and Practices

• Principles, Practices & Interpretation of Nucleic Acid Detection

Novel and Dangerous Pathogens Training

Why NADP Training?NADP Training has access to extensive expertise both within Porton Down, the wider resources of Public Health England and the healthcare and scientific community.

• Our current customer portfolio includes both UK and International government agencies, technology companies and universities.

• Attendance on our courses guarantees exposure to an unrivalled collection of experts and expertise in biosafety.

• During advanced courses delegates get to undertake hands-on work with live organisms at PHE Porton that they would otherwise not be able to work with in other facilities.

• Courses provide a balanced mixture of theory and hands-on practical work, tutored by experts in their field.

• Delegates become part of an established network of scientists working in the area of high-consequence and high-containment microbiology.

• Over 200 courses have been developed and delivered over 10 years.

• Training delivered to meet UK and International biosafety standards and regulations, e.g. training delivered to CDC BMBL (Biosafety in Microbiology and Biomedical Laboratories) standard.

• A range of e-learning modules are available to enable distance theory learning either as course preparation or refresher training.

• E-learning modules currently available cover the principles and practices of working in biosafety cabinets (Class I and II), with further modules in development.

• The NADP Team are customer orientated and bespoke courses have and can be developed that are flexible and responsive to delegates requirements.
