Dear friends, This season features many unique and exciting concerts performed by some of the greatest artists on the scene — as well as a number of firsts! From our Season Opening Gala, featuring international opera star, Othalie Graham, and the works of musical titan, Richard Wagner, to our season finale concert with audience favorite, pianist Spencer Myer, performing Saint-Säens’ beautiful and rare “Egyptian” Piano Concerto, we keep the great music of the ages alive and essential. Our principal flutist, Nancy Stagnitta, presents the jazz-tinged concerto, “Giants of the Night”, a valentine card to the Beat Generation, while our yearly visit from Ralph Votapek features the first AND last piano concertos of Beethoven. Oh yes, Beethoven!!! In 2020, the TSO celebrates the 250th Anniversary of the birth of Beethoven, one of the greatest and most inspired geniuses. We kick off the new year with a special concert featuring works for piano and other instruments, in which I, at the piano, will be joined by many of the fine artists who make up the Traverse Symphony. And we have a special Holiday visit from the Traverse City-based duo who are taking the musical world by storm, “The Accidentals”. It’s going to be an exciting season like no other… see you there!
