We promote the development of youth ages 10-18 by supporting them in handling social pressures through positive experiences and influences. Our program mentors and mentees meet a minimum of twice a month, for on-site individual and group sessions. Additional community service and learning activities are an integral part of this program, and will supplement the relationship experience.

We are a partnership organization and agency of the Mentoring Center of Central Ohio, an affiliate of Big Brothers and Sisters. The goals and objectives of the partnership with Worthington are to identify interested families and youth who may want to join the mentoring program, as mentees or mentors, and to offer specific opportunities for youth in our Life skills training, educational experiences, and outside activities. Periodically we will offer these experiences as an exposure to our program or recruitment vehicle. Our next opportunity is April 22nd. The Boys to Men, Girls to Women Mentoring Program will present the course on “Decision Making”, to be delivered by an instructor from the Mentoring Center of Central Ohio. This course will be taught at Worthingway Middle School in the library, Saturday, April 22nd, 2017, 10:30 am-12:45pm. Please call or email Mr. Larry Seward to register (614-395-2273 or [email protected]), class size limited to 35 students. UPCOMING CLASS INFORMATION: Decision Making: Class Objective: The class helps us better understand how the decisions we make influences our attitude, behavior, and our future. Decision making heavily focuses on helping youth understand how decisions influence future actions and consequences. The goal of the training is to help youth see how they are in control of the decisions they make. It also explains the idea that how we decide to respond to situations we encounter has just as much (if not more) control over our outcomes.

Tissues We have a lot of students with the sniffles and recovering from illness which equals a lot of tissues being used! We are asking for tissue donations – please turn into the office and we will distribute accordingly. Please remember if your student throws up or has a fever of 100+, they must stay home for a full 24+ hrs. after.

Library books:

Please check your students' books and make sure they are returning them to the right place for the convenience of our schools and our public libraries.

*ALL athletes must be registered and electronically sign forms online for the 2016-17 school year at https://worthington-oh.finalforms.com. OHSAA Physical forms must be turned into the KMS office. Sports fees must be paid before the first game and can be paid online at www.mypaymentsplus.com.

PTSA HIGHLIGHTS DANCE CHAPERONES NEEDED FOR APRIL 21 – TREATS AND SODA, TOO Friday, April 21 is the last 6th-8th grade dance of the school year! We are in need of parents who want to have a great time chaperoning. Volunteers need to arrive at KMS by 7:15 p.m. The dance ends at 9:30 p.m. Please contact Dance Chaperone Chair Kate Weber at 614-448- 6911 or kateweber.3 @gmail.com if you would like to volunteer. We also are in need of 2-liter soda bottles and treats for the cake walk. These are 2 VERY popular stations for the kids and the more donations we have, the longer we can keep these stations open! Ask your kiddos, they love them! Donations can be dropped 4/20 or 4/21 to Mr. Brennan or Ms. Tatta. Thank you for your help! HALL MONITORS NEEDED FOR STATE TESTING If you are available during the morning and can sit and read a book, KMS can use you for a few hours. (Plus, there’s wifi!) WE NEED YOUR HELP NEXT YEAR The PTSA is continuing to identify parents of next year’s KMS students (grades 6-8) for chair and officer positions. Anyone is welcome, even if you haven’t ever been involved with PTSA. It’s a great way to meet parents, teachers and administrators, and contribute to the KMS community in a variety of ways! It’s fun work and we can provide as much or as little support as you need. Open committee positions include: Box Tops, concessions co-chair, 8 th grade party, name-a- seat, nominating committee, open house (see above), PTA Council representatives (two) and staff appreciation. Contact Nominating Committee Chair Dennis Bryant today at [email protected] with questions and/or to express your interest. Thank you for your support!
