DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS
Congratulations to our District Cross Country team for winning the Handicap Shield last Friday after a
magnificent effort from our competitors. Congratulations to Imogen M who finished 3rd in the 12+ Girls
event and gained a medal for her terrific individual performance. Hannah B (12+ Girls) and Laura G
(9/10 Girls) both finished 15th in their events and along with Imogen qualified for the Divisional Cross
Country Championships at Yarra Glen on Tuesday 9th June. A most pleasing feature of the District Com-
petition was the way our competitors tried their personal best and also encouraged all competitors and
show appreciation and encouragement for not only our competitors but also those from other schools.
Thanks to all those who came along to assist at the Working Bee
last Sunday. Our grounds look magnificent as a result of all the
hard work put in by adults and children alike. Our playground
mulch has made the playground areas safer places, the paling peo-
ple have been attached to the fence near the sandpit, our footpath/sandpit areas have
been cleaned up, pruning has been completed in the gardens and the grass has been
mown and brush cut. It was a pity rain came and dampened things a little and the sau-
sage sizzle time was a bit wet but all in all we had a very successful working bee.
SCHOOL REVIEW
Our School Review will be held next week on Tuesday 9th June. The review will involve
our reviewer Warren St Clair, Andrew Gannon (School Council President), Phillip
White (Regional Senior advisor), Tom Daly (Upwey High Principal), Tanya Cooke
(Menzies Creek PS Principal), Elizabeth Eeles (Leadership Team), Nadja Wood
(Leadership Team) and me. We are looking forward to a busy and productive day to
review all the information presented at our forums during the very detailed Self Evalu-
ation process.
LONG WEEKEND
Hoping everyone enjoys the long weekend with the Queen’s Birthday Public Holiday on Monday. We will
look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday 9th June.
SCHOOL EVENTS THIS WEEK TRANSITION: UPWEY PRE SCHOOL VISIT The children from the Upwey Pre School attended Upwey Primary School this week on Wednesday 3
rd June for their
next school experience with an Art lesson. Mrs Christofis and Mrs Kittredge ran the activity in our School Art Room. By the looks of the art work completed the children had a most enjoyable time. Thanks to Michelle, Heather and par-ents for your involvement.

IMPORTANT NOTICES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE – CAMPS. SPORTS & EXCURSIONS FUND The Department of Education and Training has implemented the CSEF to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities. Please contact the school office if you think you might qualify for this assis-tance and Cindy will pass on the relevant information and Application Form. Please take advantage of this support if you have a Concession Card or Health Care Card. FOCUS AREA- PERSONAL BEST Grades will be focusing on Personal Best over the coming weeks as we move into reporting and interview time. This is one of Our 7 Agreements and is such a vital area for children to be applying themselves to all aspects of aca-demic, sporting, behavioural and social development. Please support the school by also highlighting this focus area after school hours.
STAFF CAR PARK DROP OFF & PICK UP Please be aware that parents are not permitted to drop off children from the staff car park unless organised with me (usually for medical reasons) at the before school time and after school time. Pick up and drop off in the staff car park is permitted if children are attending an appointment during the school day. Parents on official business (PA/Fundraising activity etc) may park in the staff car park during the day when completing those duties, if a park is available. This is for the safety of children in our school. REMINDERS CHOCOLATE DRIVE – PA FUNDRAISING The chocolate fundraising packs/boxes from Cadbury have now been distributed. This is part of the PA/Fundraising Commitments for 2015. If you do not receive a Chocolate Box and wish to assist fundraising by selling them, please contact the office and this can easily be organised. Thanks again to the PA/Fundraising Committee who do such a wonderful job to support our children. Please assist the fundraising at school by supporting this venture and ensure that children follow the requirements as detailed on the information sheet. Malcolm Aspinall Principal

RECONCILIATION WEEK
This week in BASC: 29/05/15
We have had another great week at before and after school care! We have enjoyed eggs, pancakes, cereal and
toast for breakfast! This week we enjoyed a walk through the sanctuary and some group games on the oval.
We played with the Frisbees and hackey sacks. This week we have been running an Uno competition and the
person in first place will receive a prize next week. It has been great to see all the students getting involved.
We got creative this week and made our own short films using the dress ups as props and experimenting with
the slow motion app. Once again the children have enjoyed POWER HOUR this week with half an hour in
the morning and half an hour in the afternoon. The children worked in a group and built a great big cubby
house this week incorporating our collection of recycled boxes. Thanks
again Cindy for collecting them for
us!

The program runs for 6 weeks and requires communication with parents and teachers to assist in transferring skills learned in the course to their everyday environments. Please contact Tanya Cook phone: 0423 058 766 or email [email protected] if you would like to register or to discuss the program in more detail. Places are limited.
