Art has a role in the education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like everyone else.
Children are naturally creative. It is our job to give them the freedom, materials and space to let their creativity
blossom to its full potential. Through, art children will learn to trust their ideas, themselves and explore what is
possible. To discover the undiscovered talents and let children, trust their ideas the school organized an “Art and
Craft” competition for all our lovely children. The art presentation was based on the states of “Uttarakhand and
Karnataka”.
The children of Grade 1 presented artefacts/crafts which were truly mesmerizing. Children got the opportunity to
create artwork on their own and express themselves in a positive and meaningful way. Through this competition,
children learnt to value and appreciate artefacts and images across cultures and times.
The children of Grade 2 presented jewellery worn in these states which were truly eye-catching. Children got the opportunity to
showcase their talent and designing skills. Through, this competition children learnt the art of creating something
beautiful and useful, keeping symmetry, patterns and shapes in mind.
Our inhouse judges Ms Bhargavi and Ms Sharmistha Roy for the event were impressed by the art created by
our tiny tots. Every student who participated put up a great display of art which was truly fascinating. The
judges had a tough time deciding on the winner. Opportunities like these help children learn to explore the
extent of their imagination, achieve greater levels of creativity and refinement.

CCA Dress up and speak competition – Grades 3, 4 & 5
In complete agreement with Dr. Maria Montessori, we the upper primary wing of WGS planned an integrated CCA
activity – Dress up and Speak on 28 January 2021 for grade 3. Grade 3 - Air, Earth, Fire and Sky sections dressed
up and spoke about the food and costumes of Uttarakhand whereas Light, Water, Dew, Rainbow sections dressed
up and spoke about the food and costumes of Karnataka. Learning through performance has surely made them
connect and understand about the states very well. It was a great show as all participants tried their level best to
leave a lasting impression on the audience. They left no stone unturned in giving their best on the virtual platform.
Students were judged on different rubrics that included Content, Expression/ acting, costume, etc. The enthralling
performance of the participants gave a tough time to our judges to decide the winners. For us, all the children are
winners and their presentation, for sure, won everybody’s hearts.
Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management Session
WGS organized a session on menstrual hygiene for the girls of Grade 5 on the 6th of February, 2021. Ms. Roshnee,
Executive CSR of Unicharm India conducted the session on, 'Menstrual Health and Hygiene- My Pride'. The aim
of this session was to educate children appropriately for understanding and accepting their bodily/hormonal
changes, menstrual health, and hygiene keeping in mind the diverse onset. Enlightening the students on appropriate
measures, yoga asanas, a healthy diet and the importance of personal hygiene were undoubtedly helpful for them.
The session was very informative and interactive which made them knowledgeable and empowered them to take
care of their own health.
