Brookside Primary School, Bright Street, Clitheroe, Lancashire BB7 1NW 5 June 2020 Brookside Primary Newsletter A Message from the Headteacher: Dear Parents/Children Well what a glorious half term we have had— I hope you were able to take advantage of the beautiful weather as best you could! I am so sorry that the messages keep changing, but as you will gather from all news sources, the situation is very fluid and it’s become quite an art form to keep up! You will know that school will not be opening on the 8th June. LCC are reviewing this and will announce their decision on Monday so there is still some way to go until matters become clearer and precisely which classes would be affected. Teachers stand ready to put our plans into action, including the new arrangements re social distancing and minimising transmission etc. Supplies of wipes and cleaning products will be available, so neither pupils nor staff will have anything to worry about on that score. Rest assured that as soon as I receive definitive instructions that school can reopen safely to your children, I will share this with you. Many thanks for your continued patience and understanding, and all the positive comments on the remote learning we are providing; yet again it is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, as previously explained, we are not in a position to offer Zoom as a learning platform. We appreciate, however, that children are missing classmates, and you may not be in touch with them. If you would like to make contact we may be able to help facilitate that. For help email the school office. Assembly Theme - This week’s topic is all about Routines: What are they? Do we need them? Are they good for us and why? Please see the accompanying sheets. I do hope to see you all soon, in the meantime enjoy the new rule relaxations, but please stay safe! Best wishes B L Allan Online Safety The attached information sheet provides lots of useful detail for parents about Live Streaming and Top Tips covering aspects of privacy and protection. Have a look, it is always worth reminding ourselves about what’s out there that children can access. Normally a quilt would involve sewing and there would often be a story attached to it, such as ‘why it was made and who for’? But this is a virtual quilt, and you have to use your imagination to create a square (your story), which then builds up to form one large quilt! Details are to be found in the accompanying sheet. Sounds good so have a go. There is a prize for the best 3 entrants, so get your creative thinking caps on and “Good Luck”. Email your entries to school by Wed 24th June using: [email protected] Times Tables Rock Stars update Just to let everyone know that Mrs Fielding is checking each week and is pleased to see children have been logging on and practising. Little and often is the best thing to do, so doing 10 minutes daily practise is a much better way instead of an hour once a week— and if you do ten studio sessions, your rock status can change! Mrs Fielding is hoping to be able to give out lots of certificates in assembly when we return to school, for children who have achieved Rock Star, Rock Legend and Rock Hero statuses. So come on challenge yourselves and build this into your daily routine!
