IMS Junior Beta Club participated in a food drive on Oc-tober 18th, sponsored by the Optimist Club of Irmo andMcGregor Presbyterian Church. This food drive was to col-lect items needed for Snack Packs, a program to feed stu-dents on the weekends. This program is utilized by many ofthe schools in District 5, including Irmo Middle. At the fooddrive, our students were able to practice the skills they havebeen developing in their Crew classes, an essential part ofour EL magnet curriculum. Students worked on principleEL components including service and compassion, as well

as empathy and caring. Beta students were aware of theneeds of others, responded to those needs, and saw howtheir service impacted both themselves and the membersof our community. Our Beta Club students receivedmany compliments about how well-spoken and polite theywere! IMS Beta Club exemplified what it means to beIrmo Strong!***************************************************************************************
