Welcome back to school for a very exciting and action packed term three. I hope everyone had a restful break and had lots of quality time with family and friends. On a personal note, I would like to thank FIFA for organising the World Cup during school holidays this year, but am looking forward to getting back to normal sleep patterns. Here at MJPS, some of the activities planned for this term include; Dance 2B Fit teaching all classes our dances for next terms school concert Showcase Concert for our dance and choir (August 19) Book Week (August 18-22) K-2 Sports Carnival (September 2) Stage 3 Canberra / Snow trip (September 8-10) I’m sure more activities will be added as we go along, but it is already shaping up to be a very busy and creative term. Please keep a look out for notes from your class teacher or in the newsletter about all these events. Staff Development Day On Monday, Maroubra Junction PS hosted La Perouse and Mascot Public Schools to discuss current trends in Literacy with regards to new curriculum and assessment practices. A great session, lead by Mr Elleston from La Perouse. Staff were also shown great teaching strategies and practices using iPads in Education. A really exciting and worthwhile workshop, lead by Miss Lauren Yook, Miss Ho and Miss Keryn Yook. To finish the day staff discussed the concept of creativity in our classrooms and how we as teachers can encourage this concept, both in ourselves and in our students. Three very worthwhile sessions, very positively received by all staff. Uniform Shop Move I know the P&C have more details in their report, but just a short thanks to Deanne, Kellie and Kiran for all the work done in the holidays in moving the Uniform Shop to outside the Year 4 classrooms during the holidays. A great move to a place that is hopefully easier for parents to get to when updating school uniforms.
