Fairfield Area Public Speaking Finals

Congratulations to Emily Seav KN Narella Wong 1D Sophia Dang 4V and Harriet King 6A who competed at

the Fairfield Area Public Speaking Finals on Monday Emily won the Kindergarten division and Harriet came 2nd

in the Stage 3 division One parent from another school commented to Mrs Villar ldquoCanley Vale are very good at

Premiers Challenge against Casula PS - Canley Vale won yesterday and compete today in the Regional Final at

Greenway Park Public School

Fairfield District Final this Friday against Lansvale PS ndash again another difficult challenge which we know our

debating team is ready for

Lions Club Fundraiser

Keagan Castley performed at a Lions Club fund raising function last Friday evening in which

his family and five staff Canley Vale staff attended Thank you to Keaganrsquos family for

supporting the local community in this worthwhile fund raising event

Lateness to school

There has been an increase in the number of students arriving to school late Please ensure your children are

ready the night before bag packed and uniform ready Late students miss out on an important part of the day

which can impact on their learning

This begins next week for weeks 3 and 4 Please ensure students attending pack spare underwear towel and

drink bottle

Wednesday 30 October from 930am-11am in Canley Vale High School hall Morning tea will be provided A

note will be sent home to parents next week

School conference

This Saturday 19 October is the School Conference to be held at Fairfield RSL club Staff will be engaged in

professional learning activities aimed at improving their knowledge and skills

Practice students

We welcome 5 practice students from University of Western Sydney for their upcoming placements

Year 5 Selective High School Applications

This year all schools got a limited number of Selective High School Applications All students who returned their

expression of interest form in term 1 have been given the online application details at a year 5 meeting held on

Wednesday afternoon

All students who have internet access will need to apply online at wwwschoolsnsweduaushsplacement if you

are unable to apply online you will need to contact one of the selective schools listed in the information booklet

and ask them to provide you with a form

The online applications can be made now and close on the 18th November 2013 The Selective High School

placement test will be held on the 13th March 2014 and parents will need to take their child to the test venue

you will be sent a letter telling you where the test will be held

Breakfast Club

A big thank you to the Mums who have been helping out with breakfast club

They have done a great job for the last two years but after all their hard work are now taking a break

Mr Casey and the Breakfast Club Teachers are looking for some more parents who could give up some

time in the mornings between 810 and 845 If you feel you could help please speak to one of our community

engagement officers or Mr Casey
