It was the beginning of a new year, with new direction, new goals. For Gabrielle Fox, it was the day that the course of her life changed. Sitting in the emergency room of Cook Children’s Hospital, little did she know God’s plan for her life involved a life-threatening diagnosis of cancer. At 4 ½ years old, Gabrielle was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Her journey to becoming a survivor started with almost two weeks in the hospital and will involve 2 ½ years of intense chemotherapy, during which she must give up some of the most precious childhood experiences…like playing with her friends and beginning Kindergarten. A true fighter, and a sassy one at that, Gabrielle didn’t approach her diagnosis with fear, but with a true warrior spirit. Through every chemotherapy treatment; through every headache and stomach ache; through every birthday party she can’t attend…she sees a day that is one step closer to complete healing. Her journey is a long one filled with many valleys but it is a journey to complete victory over cancer. Her testimony of God’s awesome power will reach far and wide. Our prayer is that by age 7, Gabrielle will be able to say, ‘I am a cancer survivor.’ We are forever grateful for and humbled by everyone’s love, support and prayers for our precious daughter. The Fox Family and the FUMC Preschool and Kindergarten wish to thank all of you for your support with Wheels Day and the blood donations. The cross in the above picture is Gabrielle’s Cross. Designed to illustrate her fight with the faceless enemy called Leukemia, and her emergence with a body renewed. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 15: “For this perishable body must put on imperishability and this mortal body must put on immortality, then the saying that is written will be fulfilled: “Death has been swallowed up in victory!” Gabrielle has a long fight ahead of her but we know through our faith in Christ Jesus the will of God will be glorified in her life and her fight. Designed by Tina and Patrick Neuwirth for the Iron Chinchilla, all proceeds from Gabrielle’s cross from now until Mother’s Day will be given to the Fox Family. The cost is $99. This week we had conferences on Monday. Our PK2 classes all went to see Stephen Fite at UTA – to see Mrs. Medlin in action visit our Facebook page –

FUMC Preschool Euless – a video has been posted of her dancing at the concert. Our Kindergarten class went to see Alice in Wonderland at Casa Manana, then enjoyed a picnic lunch and train ride at Trinity Park. Our Cherubs and PK1 started a Farm Unit and our PK2 students started a Bug unit. Both units will continue into next week. Thank you so much for all the donations you collected for Gabrielle for the Wheels Day Trike-a-thon. We are planning on presenting the Fox Family a check on our Team Spirit Day, April 27. We have collected over $5,000. WOO HOO! The final total will be announced that day. We will present the student who collected the most money and the student who rode the most laps with trophies. All students who collected $25 or more will receive their “Pedaling for Life” t-shirt on that day, also.

than enough appreciation from the pantry clients but always appreciate the extra recognition. We know that God appreciates and loves us all.

Thank you and Blessings, The Food Pantry Volunteers

Congratulations to Steve & Rachel Heyduck (new pastor) on the birth of their son, William (Liam) Henry Heyduck. He was born Thursday, April 12 weighing 7 lbs. 13 ozs. and was 19 1/2” long. His big sister is Eliza. All are well.

Sunday, May 6 The Communion offering for May has historically, in the Central Texas Conference, gone to Golden Cross. Local congregations have collected money

designated to assist the medically indigent treated in Harris Methodist Hospitals. Because Texas Health Resources has deliberately developed its own plan to faithfully assist the medically indigent, several years ago we expanded Golden Cross to address the preventative medicine needs of United Methodist congregations through support of Faith Community Nursing. While still assisting special indigent cases, we are also positively touching lives through the wellness efforts of these volunteer parish nurses. First United Methodist Church, Euless is one of churches with a Faith Community Nursing Program, led by Marilyn Long. Please help us continue providing care for those who desperately need it, as well as providing education to the local churches in the area of preventative medicine and wellness.
