Aussie of the Month Sponsorship Each month at our major assemblies three students are presented with an Aussie of the Month Award. The staff nominate students for these awards and make a joint decision about the final worthy recipient in each stage. Students who receive these awards have demonstrated a consistent and outstanding effort in aspects such as citizenship, interest and application in class, school values, concern for others and general behaviour, which makes them a positive role model for others in the school. Aussie of the Month students have shown over time that they can follow our school rules and Five Fair Rules and have a well developed sense of respect and responsibility in the way they approach school life. Students receiving an Aussie of the Month award will receive a prize voucher, courtesy of the O’Brien Family. We thank the O’Brien Family for their wonderful support of our school and facilitating this positive recognition of our students’ achievements.

Classroom Volunteers Teachers will be seeking assistance in a variety of capacities as required. All volunteers will need to have our school’s guidelines and documentation completed before they begin their support. Our office staff are able to provide you with the guidelines and appropriate forms so please see them after you have negotiated with your classroom teacher. When your program begins all volunteers, visitors and tutors must sign in and out at the office on each occasion. If you wish to go to your child’s classroom during the day after school has commenced and before it has finished for the day, you must come to the office first and get a visitor’s lanyard. These, sometimes minor inconveniences, are very important to our child protection, health & safety and community protocol procedures. Your understanding and support is most appreciated.

Library News Borrowing from the library will begin for all classes K-6 next week. We ask all students to have a library bag before borrowing books to take home, so that the books are protected from spills and knocks. Library bags are available for purchase from the uniform shop for $3, if required. There are still some books outstanding from last year. We would appreciate the return of these books. Thank you. Diane Eggins Teacher Librarian

Canteen Ordering We ask all students who require lunch from the canteen to please order before school. Lunch orders can be written at home and placed in the classroom tub or students may go to the canteen to order before the 9.05 am bell. Students may go to the canteen to buy extra food after the set eating times at recess and lunch.

NHPS’s annual swimming carnival was held at Wauchope Pool on Tuesday. It was great to see so many of our students “having a go” and doing their best and earning valuable house points for their respective houses. Our 2020 Age Champions are - Junior Girl Abbey Hickey (Acacia) Junior Boy Archer Thoms (Eucalypt) 11 year Girl Neave O’Brien (Melaleuca) 11 year Boy Luca Pensini (Eucalypt) Senior Girl Mischa Everden (Melaleuca) Senior Boy Beau Sanbrook (Acacia)

The overall champion house for swimming in 2020 is EUCALYPT!!

We witnessed some fantastic individual efforts and some very exciting races with close finishes. A special congratulations to Neave O’Brien who won all of her 6 events and Luca Pensini who won 5 of 6 events and came 2nd in the other. It was great to have enough time to run house relays once again. Melaleuca took out the girls Open 4 x 50m relay and Eucalypt the boys 4 x 50m relay. The PSSA Hastings/Camden Haven district carnival will be held on Thursday, 13th February at Port Macquarie Pool.
