Tahatai Coast School students performed a Maori song to welcome us, and we sang a Cantonese song for them. Next, I met my buddy, Sharon. She was very nice and showed me around their school campus. I started comparing it to the schools in Hong Kong — their school is huge! A rugby ground, two football fields and netball and tennis courts, and their school rules are not as restrictive — they can play and run anywhere. I played with my buddy during recess and lunch. We also met our English teachers and started English lessons.I think we will have a good time at Tahatai Coast School.6A (24) Liu Yui Na (Sophia)
Today was a really wonderful day because it was my
birthday and I was the group leader. I was very excited!
On our way to National Park we visited Huka Falls. It was
really amazing. After that we went fishing. Each of us caught a fish. Mine
was small, but Chelsey was lucky as she caught the
biggest fish. We will have the fish for dinner tomorrow night.
I am sure that it will be very delicious.
When we arrived at National Park, we played some group
games and then we settled into our rooms. Our room is
big, but some of the others are as small as an ant. Today’s
dinner was really delicious, and we had a birthday cake for
dessert. This was the most unforgettable birthday I have ever had.

Today was our last day with our buddies. We learnt about New
Zealand geography in the first period. During the second period, we
played Tabloid Sports with our buddies instead of having classes. It
was fun and interesting. The games included skipping, balancing
tennis balls, soccer dribbling etc. I really want to play these games
again in Hong Kong. Time flew by, and it was soon time to say goodbye.
We hugged each other like a thousand times and exchanged emails
and Instagram accounts. I cried because Katelyn was a very good
friend while I was at Tahatai School.I miss Katelyn, Brianna and Morgan. I promised to send an email to
them once I’m back in Hong Kong.6E (8) Hui Ho Yan (Yannes)

Today was a special day because I was the daily leader. We also had a chance to go caving and white water rafting. We had to wear our old shoes and gloves for caving. The Big Foot coach gave us some thermal clothes to keep ourselves warm. They were extremely large and looked hilarious. As we put on our helmets, the adventure began. I saw a lot of glowworms, like stars in the night sky! It was marvelous. We had to wear wetsuits and water boots for white water rafting. We paddled very hard down the river, but held on tightly when we came to the rapids. We also had the chance to use our paddles to splash the other boats. I burst out laughing when I managed to splash the other girls. At the end of the rafting journey, I jumped into the freezing water to have a swim. The water was a very chilly 12 °C.I can’t believe that we leave tomorrow. I hope I can come back to this wonderful land next year!5E (22) Leung Cheuk Chi Chloe
The sun was shining brightly this morning. We could see
the top of the mountain from the ground, so we travelled
by bus to the chair lift station, then we rode two chair lifts
to 2020m above sea level. As we went higher and higher, the temperature got colder
and colder. When we got up to the mountain, we saw the
clouds were under our feet! Then, we were really hungry
so we had our morning tea in a café — the highest café in
New Zealand. Then, we climbed even higher. I had a drink
of water from a mountain stream. It was clear and sweet.
I enjoyed being there a lot!5D (18) Li Cheuk Wing (Vanesse)
