The result of ERP implementation in many IFS customers reveal that 70% of the users want to improve their existing system by enhancing the functionalities to Business Intelligence and Mobile Applications. The Business Intelligence industry is a major focus for organizations making investments, and according to analyst, “business intelligence implementation wills growth significantly more than ever alongside with the needs for dynamic approach to data analysis”.

The Business Intelligence application plays a fundamental role in helping organizations weather the current storm and outperform the competition. Across the enterprise and inside departments - in financial institutions large and small - people are looking at where to focus, where to cut and where to invest. This requires powerful, intuitive and affordable analysis to make the right decisions now.On the other side, a web enabled ERP helps in making the enterprise operations go online. Any stakeholder or third party can access the required information very easily and that too by sitting anywhere in the world. This proves to be of great help especially during emergencies when the details are to be sourced with immediate effect.

Wireless ERP has helped organizations to make use of the communication channels effectively and efficiently. It has made it possible for many elements to operate in ERP which were otherwise not possible. Wireless ERP is nothing but sharing enterprise information through devices like internet and mobile devices making it possible for outsiders to access the same.

NEWS FROM IFS WORLD

Today, IFS launches the first Project-based industry Advisory Council (PAC), with the objective to establish a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience between IFS and its customers within the project-based industry. The invitees are world-renowned organizations who are all leaders within their respective fields, and the agenda revolves around opportunities and challenges facing the project-based industry today. IFS has for many years worked actively to create forums where customers and partners can meet and discuss market challenges and exchange ideas. In addition to user groups and OpenIFS – IFS’s online community – the Industry Advisory Councils establish a point of convergence where customers and IFS global industry experts can discuss needs, requirements, and ideas in a frank and open manner. Today’s advisory council will be the first with focus on the project-based industry, an industry in which IFS has many years of experience.

– One of the central objectives with this council is to maximize the benefits that our customers reap from using our project-based industry solutions. For IFS, we benefit from our customers who hold the real expertise when it comes to best practices within project management. Our customers get the opportunity to influence the IFS product direction, which means their best practice processes can become part of the product, says Kenny Ingram, Global Industry Director, Construction and Contracting, IFS.

STX OSV, the Global shipbuilding group, is one of the companies attending the council.

– It is important for us to have a committed and responsive ERP provider. It is also of great value for us to be able to talk to other companies facing the same challenges within the project-based industry. I believe that cooperation on this level will ultimately benefit all parties, says Noralf Gamlem, CIO at STX OSV.

The project-based industry is one of IFS’s key targeted markets, making the first Project-based industry Advisory Council important for future product development in a field associated with complex business processes and rigid constraints in both time and cost. IFS’s project-based solutions offer an integrated system for management of the project’s entire lifecycle, with a special focus on HR, financials and asset management.

Greater flexibility and better customer service top ERP users’ wish list Over one in three (35%) UK IT decision-makers cite greater flexibility as the top improvement they would make to their existing ERP systems, according to an independent report launched today by global enterprise applications company IFS. This is closely followed by higher standards of customer service, with 29% seeking improved relations.

Better training and usability top the respective wish lists of 18% and 9% of those surveyed. Notably, all of these desired improvements come before clearer visibility of return on investment (4%), despite the current business focus on cost efficiency.

Additionally, 15% of IT decision-makers couldn’t express confidence that their current ERP system is flexible enough to work efficiently alongside other tools and business systems. Tellingly, only 5% of those surveyed would not alter any element of their existing ERP suites.

Alastair Sorbie, CEO of IFS, says: “It’s significant that most businesses desire greater flexibility in their ERP systems and better customer service from providers above factors such as clearer measurement of ROI. It reveals that many CIOs and IT managers are fed up with enterprise applications and ERP providers that fail to deliver on the promise of meeting changing business needs and improving business agility. It also shows that they are waking up to the potential benefits of enterprise applications that have flexibility and agility built into their architecture.”

IFS-SI MARKETING CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Increased focus on the processes that the ERP system is meant to support and the change process for users. New service delivery and support models: We believe that increasingly, vendors will have to deliver support for a business issue as opposed to support for a specific technology to accommodate an ever faster changing environment which, in turn, will change the service delivery models. Customer service: Ensuring users are getting the most out of the system. Customer service has traditionally been reactive. However, we believe that new, more engaging models will emerge to support the business process and engage users, thereby more effectively help them utilise the system to address

According to James Greaves, IT Manager at mechanical and aeronautical engineering company Portsmouth Aviation, the ability to be flexible and address evolving business issues is one of the key attributes sought in an ERP vendor and their applications. “Portsmouth Aviation would not have developed into the successful company it is today without a flexible ERP framework reinforced with first-rate levels of intuitive technical support,” explains Greaves. “The standard functionalities of IFS Applications have enabled us to optimise controls over features including reporting, securities and interfaces. This has earned a better user response from all levels of staff, from the administrative team to the board of directors.” And in terms of ROI, Greaves concludes: “Return on investment is more important than ever, yet despite the financial climate we are continuing to invest in our ERP system. Instead we are seeking more functionality with fewer resources, and IFS has enabled us to perceptibly streamline business processes.”

IFSSI - LINTASARTA SaaS Press Conference (Q2-2011)EPC Board Forum (Q2-2011)IFS for Manufacturing Industries (Q3-2011)IFS Mobile and Business Intelligent (Q3-2011)Customer Focus 2011 : The Smart way to Up Grade Your IFS Applications (Q4-2011)

Sille Gavnholt Jygert, Consultant & Programme Manager at analyst firm Frost & Sullivan, agrees, saying: “The emphasis on ERP delivery is changing from cost focus to effectiveness; it is more about doing the right things, and in the right way. This often means that more flexibility has to be built into how ERP is delivered and used. We believe there are three core areas that can help users get more out of their ERP through increased flexibility and business focus:
