MOTHER’S DAY THANKS I hope all mums had a lovely day last Sunday and were treated with some special moments with the family. On behalf of the school community I would like to express our sincere thanks to Simone Royle and Michelle Walker for coordinating last week’s Mother’s Day Stall. Our students really enjoyed choosing a special gift for mum at the stall. A special thanks also to Lisa Bateman who assisted with the sales at the stall.

FOOD ALLERGY WEEK Did you know that this week is Food Allergy Week?

We have students attending TPS who are either anaphylactic or have allergies to certain foods. In some cases these allergies can be life threatening and so

this is an area that we monitor very closely to ensure that these students are not inadvertently exposed to specific foods. We are grateful to many families (in classrooms that were notified earlier in the year) for limiting the presence

of nuts, diary, eggs, fish etc in lunchboxes. We also strongly discourage students sharing food during the school day. As part of Food Allergy Week, could

you please take a few minutes to discuss the importance of this area to your child/ren so that we can all continue to work together as part of our inclusive and supportive school culture?

To All Parents, As you are aware drop off and pick up times at Tootgarook can be rather busy. Please use the

designated drop off zones around the school as a drop off area only and allocated car

parking areas if needing to stay longer. I ask parents to be particularly mindful of

not compromising the safety of students in Wilkinson St by pulling into the Staff

carpark entrance or other driveways to drop off or to make a u-turn.

During school times the speed limit on Carmichael St, Wilkinson St and surrounding

roads is reduced to the school zone speed of 40km so please adhere to this.

I very much appreciate parents making this a priority and of being patient and

aware of surrounding traffic and pedestrians to ensure the utmost safety for all

members of our school community.

In week 3 the Preps learnt the letter and sound for M. Our Literacy focus is the formation of the letter and the sound it makes, as well as the common words me, my and of course mum!

Some activities with the letter ‘m’ were: shop play with money, Post office with a class mail box, fishing for letters to make mum, my and me and making the letter ‘m’ with counters.

Please support this event, feel free to browse the display of books and novelty items (If you wish to purchase during school hours just let me know and I will open the library). Our school receives

commission from every item sold therefore these Fairs are important fundraisers for our school library. Every child that purchases something will go into the draw to win a book and a novelty item. I look forward to seeing you at this Book Fair. Jackie Waycott
