Our intensive workshop will focus on four main areas: the ‘ensemble’, your body, your voice and the space.

The ‘ensemble’ is at the heart of our work. It demands you be available for your fellow actors and for the imagination of the audience. Your body and voice are your instruments and will be a critical focus of our exploration. As an actor you work to master these instruments in order to allow your imagination to move and speak freely. The space is your invisible partner and a precious ally. Our work will attempt to feel and connect with the space.

The ultimate quest for every actor is to be in the moment. Risk is a necessary cost and release a crucial state to reach. Our work will help you reach this moment. Every game, exercise, discussion and scene will prepare you for it, and allow you to fully embrace it.

Each program teacher once studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, a school renowned for training some of the world’s leading actors. Collectively they represent the spirit and philosophy of the British theatrical tradition and training.

As theatre is a work of community, the doors to our workshop will be open for the last two days to anyone curious about the actor’s craft.

VOICE & MOVEMENT

Our summer course is 12 days of intensive training in a unique environment. You will develop your skills, hone your craft, and push to explore the true power of your body and voice.

This year we will work with two plays in our exploration of the actor’s craft:

- Lungs by Duncan Macmillan- Second piece to be announced.

We will provide you with a copy of both plays as you arrive.

Jamie Bradley studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Chelsea College of Art. He has extensive experience in theatre, television and film and has performed with companies such as Complicite, Kneehigh, Transport, Fevered Sleep and the National Theatre in London. He has directed and devised projects extensively at Guildhall, Fontainebleau School of Acting and LAMDA. As a teacher he has led workshops for Complicite, Transport, Selma Susanna Studio Amsterdam, Pro Corda and the English Chamber Orchestra.

Jamie BradleyActor Associate Director at Fonact

Upon completion of his acting studies in 2011 Laurent taught at the Guildhall School and National Theatre School of Strasbourg between 2012 and 2015, acting as a panel member for national auditions in 2013. At ENSATTT (Lyon) he assisted Hungarian director Arpad Shilling on the show Audition/Competition which performed at Arian’s Muschkin Theatre de l’aquarium in Paris. Laurent went on to found the Fontainebleau School of Acting in 2014.

His performances include: Treplev in The Seagull by Anton Chekov, M in Stitching by Anthony Nielsen and Roland in Constellations by Nick Payne. His most recent collaboration was with French music composer Benoit Menute and string ensemble Gustave, in their work to honor French poet Victor Segalen at the Chamber Music Festival Autour du Ventoux before its tour of Asia.

Currently, he is working on the French adaptation of Lungs by English playwright Duncan Macmillan for it’s 2019 Paris production

Katie completed her Masters of Arts in 2015 from the Institute of Education at University College London. This followed a Masters in Music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Bachelor of Arts from Middlesex University. Katie is a Soprano in the London Vocal Project, a multi-instrumentalist and performs internationally.

Katie is a qualified teacher and prides herself on leading change through music. She is an inspirational, creative and dedicated music educator, choir leader, performer, arranger and composer.
