AIR Force Regulation 439 provides that a ship, boat, aint4-craft or person shall not come or remain within any
area declared by proclamation to be an air fighting, gunnery,bo)I Ding or similar practice area whilst any such practice isin progress.
2. At.teant:oii is directed. to Proclamation dated 27thNovember, 1940, published on page 25:31 of Commonwealth,of Australia Gazette, dated 28th November, 1940, declar-ing certain areas in the -vicinity of the Royal AustralianAir 1 Orcc Station, Cressy, Victoria, being. Lake Gnarpurt, thenorthern portion of Lake Corangamite and land adjoining thenorthern shore of Lake Corangamite, to be air gunnery andhomling areas for the purpose of the .air Force Regulations.

3. Notice is hereby given that air gunnery and bombingpractices may take place on the ranges in the proclaimedareas on any day during the hours of daylight. No furtherspecial notice of any such practices will be issued.
4. The signal that the areas are closed to the public willbe given
(a ) by displaying red flags on the Foxhow- Camperdo "'nroad near the north- western shore of Lake Coranga-mite and the southern shore of Lake Gnarpurt ;and
( b ) by displaying red flags on the eastern, northern andWestern boundaries of the proclaimed land areawhich adjoins the northern shore of Lake Coranga-mite. and on the road adjacent thereto: or
(oh by the presence over any of the proclaimed areas ofany aircraft.

5. I t is an offence, punishable on summary conviction by aline not exceeding Ten pounds, to enter a proclaimed areawhile prantice is in progress.

LiRSUANT to the powers conferred upon him by the CityArea Leases Ordnance 1936 -1938, the Minister invites
applications, closing at noon on Monday, the 9th December,1940, for the lease for residential purposes only of thefollowing blocks in the Division of Turner, each for a termof 99 years:
The conditions of lease will provide, inter alia, for thecommencement and completion within six months and twelvemonths respectively from the grant of the lease of an approvedbuilding (exclusive of necessary outbuildings and fences)costing not less than the suns shown in respect of each block.
Each applicant shall state the unimproved value placed byhint on the block applied for.
The successful applicant shall at the grant of the lease pay,in addition to the first year's rent and other charges uponthe land. the sum equal to the difference, if any, between thereserve value and the unimproved value placed upon the landby the applicant. ._.
Each lease will at all times be subject to the laws in forcein the '1.erritory, and special attention is invited to the CityArea Leases Ordinance 19.36 -1938 and the regulations there-under.

THE following promotions are provisional and subject to appeal by officers to the Public Service Board, and, where consequent uponI ..another provisional promotion, shall be dependent upon the latter being confirmed. Appeals should be lodged, either by letter or
telegram, with the Commonwealth Public Service Inspector in the State in which the promotion is to be made, or, if the promotion is tobe made in the Australian Capital Territory, with the Public Service Inspector at Canberra, within fourteen days of the date of this notification.An appellant shall forward his appeal direct to the Public Service Inspector.
Where an officer desires to appeal against two or more provisional promotions a separate appeal should be lodged in respect of eaclY ,except where the provisional promotions appealed against are to positions of similar classification in the same Branch of a Department,when one appeal covering such provisional promotions will be accepted.
The grounds of appeal must be as prescribed in Section 50 of the Commonwealth Public Service Act, viz.:(a) Superior efficiency : or(b) Equal efficiency combined with seniority.
