Major Product Range

❖ Reliance Furnace Oil:

➢ Furnace Oil is a fraction obtained from petroleum distillation, either as a

distillate or a residue. This Fuel is dark, viscous liquid as room temperature and

is a complex mix of hydrocarbons with carbon atoms ranging from 20 to 55.It is

heavier than petrol & Diesel.

➢ Furnace Oil is “C” Class petroleum products and can be divided into two grades

based on its application. 1) Industrial 2) Marine.

➢ It can have varying amounts of Paraffinic, Naphthenic and Aromatic

Compounds.

➢ Applications : As fuel for Boilers/Heaters/Preheaters/Furnaces

For Electricity Generation in DG sets

Bunker Fuels by Ships

❖ Reliance CBFS (Carbon Black Feed Stock): Carbon black feed stock (CBFS)

is the heavy hydrocarbon mix (mostly C9 to C15 fraction and higher) bottom

product of Naphtha cracker unit.

➢ One of the main raw material for manufacture of carbon black is CBFS, which is

used by the tyre industry for making tire of vehicles .

➢ Applications: A small portion of this product is also used by processors to

make various downstream chemicals like White Oil , etc. CBFS used for

manufacture of Rubber Process Oils , DAE.

➢ Sulphur content in CBFS reduces the effect of BMCI value. The best recipe of

using CBFS is blend it with gilsonite and TDAE then you will make green tire.

❖ Reliance C-9 Solvent : C-9 Aromatic hydrocarbons are a series of organic

molecules that form flat ring-shaped bonds.

➢ Aromatic hydrocarbon C9/C10/C12 resins are conventionally named because

they are defined by the number of carbon monomers in the chemical.

➢ Aromatic hydrocarbons have a distinctive aromatic odour and a typical

Gardner colour of 6 – 10 (dark yellow to dark brown).

Problem Description Causes Actions

Smoke Incomplete Combustion

Inproper Air-Fuel Ratio

Do proper Air- Fuel ratio

Soot Deposition Deposition on wall Inproper Air-Fuel Ratio

Do proper Air- Fuel ratio

Sox Emission So2 in flue gas above limit

High sulphur Can be mitigated With scrubber and additive interventions

Refractory Corrosion

Corrosion on refractory lining

Condensation of Sulphric Acid

Flue gas temperature to be kept higher to prevent sulphuric acid condensation

Boiler Tube Corrosion

Corrosion on boiler tube

Due to sodium & Vanadium Compounds

Maintain low excess air

Sludge Semi Solid sediment in storage tank

Instability Of Fuel Oil

Do not mix fuel oils with various types

➢ They are insoluble in water, low alcohols and ketones, however are soluble in

aliphatic hydrocarbons and chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents.

➢ ***Test Reports are changed batch to batch. (1st one is on 1st date of month and second

one in on 16th so kindly refer current slab.

➢ Applications: Aromatic hydrocarbons are mainly used in adhesives, printing

inks, sealants, polychoroprene rubber, concrete curing compounds, anti-drying

agents and paints.

➢ They can also be applied to coatings on ships, vehicles and bridges because

they will improve the luster, increase hardness and make areas more water

resistant.

➢ Within the printing industry, the petroleum resin will increase water

resistance, solvent consumption and resistance to dry.

➢ They are also used for hot road markings. The end user markets for this

product are the paints, coatings and rubber industries.
