MINUTES OF 119TH MEETING OF NORTHERN REGIONAL COMMITTEE HELD ON JULY 28TH-31ST JULY 07

The 119th Meeting of the Northern Regional Committee (NRC), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) was held on 28th-31st July 2007, at Conference Hall, NCTE-HQrs, New Delhi.

The Regional Director welcomed the Chairperson-NRC and all the other members of NRC.

The Committee conveyed its condolence to Sh. K.R. Narendrababu on the death of his father. The Committee observed the silence for two minutes in the honour of the departed soul with the prayer to the god for the peace of the same. The members requested the Regional Director to send the condolence message on behalf of the Committee to Sh. K. R.Narendrababu.

The Regional Director put up the request of Amity Institute of Behavioral and Allied Sciences before the Committee for consideration of the following issues

1. The institution has requested that the five teacher training programmes of the institution namely B.Ed, B.El.Ed, ETE, NTT, B.P.Ed has been recognised by the NCTE and are being affiliated with CCS University, Meerut / SCERT, Lucknow. Now Amity University has been established by an Act of Uttar Pradesh Legislature so the institution has requested for the permission to affiliate the different courses of the institution from Amity University.

After the thorough discussion, the Committee decided that NRC-NCTE has no objection in deaffiliating the courses from the CCS University / SCERT and affiliating the same courses with the Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Noida subject to the provisions of the CCS University, SCERT-UP, UP State Government and Amity University Act, Rules and Regulations.

2. The institution has also requested for the change of name of the institution from Amity Institute of Behavioral And Allied Sciences to Amity Institute of Education, Sector-44, Noida.

After thorough discussion, the Committee decided that institution has to submit the required legal papers needed for the change of name of the institution such as copy of advertisement in newspapers, resolution of the management of the institution, permission of UP Government etc. Meanwhile, the Regional Director may take the legal opinion and clarification from the NCTE-HQrs.

The other Agenda items were not taken up due to want of time.

As other Agenda items could not be taken up inspite of extension of meeting by one day, the Committee decided to hold the next meeting on 4th-5th August 07 at Jaipur, Rajasthan
