The Tigers improved to 2-7-0 in non-conference play this year and 1-6-0 on the road overall. As a confer - ence, the NCHC is now 35-21-7 (.611) in non-conference play this year, which is second best among the six conferences behind ECAC Hockey (.627). NCHC teams are now 11-1-2 against WCHA foes this year following CC’s win. The Tigers complete their series Saturday while No. 6/6 Omaha hosts Arizona State in non-conference action Saturday and Sunday. The Tigers scored a season-high five goals in the victory over the Chargers. CC’s previous season best was four goals in a 4-3 win over Air Force Nov. 28. The last time the Tigers tallied five goals in a game was Feb. 28, 2015 in a 5-0 shutout of Western Michigan and the last time they did it on the road was Nov. 2, 2012 in a 5-4 win at Wisconsin. CC senior forward Hunter Fejes and junior forward Luc Gerdes each recorded three points in the win. Fejes notched two goals and an assist while Gerdes had a goal and two helpers. It marked the first time two Ti- gers recorded three points in the same game since Jan. 19, 2013 vs. Minne- sota Duluth (Alexander Krushelnyski, Rylan Schwartz). The three points tied a career high for Fejes (Feb. 9, 2013 vs. Denver) while he now has seven goals in his last seven games after one in his first 12 games this season. The three points are a career high for Gerdes, who has already matched a career high with four goals this season and his 11 points are only one shy of the 12 he recorded as a sophomore. Gerdes has tallied nine of his 11 points in his last six games after two in his first 13 games of the season. Four other NCHC players took the ice for the U.S. National Junior Team Friday in a 4-0 exhibition win over UMass. North Dakota sophomore forward Nick Schmaltz scored Team USA’s first goal in the first period, which was the game-winning goal. St. Cloud State freshman defenseman Will Borgen handed out the lone assist on the third goal. Miami sophomore defenseman Louie Belpedio and UND freshman forward Brock Boeser also played in the win as the quartet combined to post a plus-4 rating. All four players remained with the team after it was cut to 24 players Satur - day morning. The team now heads to Finland to continue training camp in preparation for the 2016 World Junior Championship with the final 23-man roster set to be announced on Thursday, Dec. 24. SATURDAYS SET UP No. 6/6 Omaha hosts Arizona State in the first game of a Saturday- Sunday series this weekend. The Mavericks are 6-0-0 this season at Baxter Arena and 8-0-0 in non-conference action. These are UNO’s final non- conference games of the regular season and first ever meetings with ASU. CC goes for a sweep of UAH Saturday. The Tigers are 8-0-0 all-time against the Chargers and are looking for their first regular-season road sweep since taking two games at Wisconsin Nov. 2-3, 2012.
